You don't have to believe in a higher power to understand the bond, the promise, the commitment that keeps people together during the highs and lows. Whether or not my husband and I believe what Yvonne believes, our marriage is a sacrament -- a strong place for us and our children.

So just cut the crap.

And yes, happiness doesn't sell TV shows.

Perhaps, but it apparently doesn't sell advertising dollars, or they would have done a show about it by now (or have they?).

I think you read too much in the statement, yes of course I love my husband but it is more than love than makes a marriage, I believe it is a sacrament that makes a marriage, it is a holy state. People have rejected what has been the standard for such a long time and they are miserable. I am not.

OK, so sacrament = a religious ceremony of the christian church, so if a couple of atheists get married, is it not a true marriage? What about agnostics who believe in a higher spiritual plain, but don't buy the catholic stuff you believe? Protestants? Hindus who believe in mutliple gods? We know you are firmly against homosexuals marrying, but what about non-christians/catholics? If they aren't catholic weddings, are they truly married? Do enlighten us oh faithful believer! And what of the early christians who had multiple wives?

On a side note, some of the strongest marriages I am aware of are comprised of two, *gasp*, non believers! What say you Ms Balcer?!?! How do these heathens enjoy a marriage if they don't believe in your infallible pope?

Staying married sounds like you made a choice that wasn't based on love - It would have sounded better if you said that I'd been in love with my husband for 40 years !
