Lots of the little mom and pop Spanish restaurants have great soups. Las Americas on Summit is great. Their chicken soup is meaty, with lots of rice and yucca.

Thanks for the suggestions! You all are awesome! It's not gastric surgery so I can handle small pieces of solids, but preferably soft solids. I appreciate the feedback:)

I like the Chicken Soup from Taqueria - only made during the week.

I keep a supply of McDougalls soup on hand for when I don't feel like ordering or making my own, like http://www.amazon.com/Dr-McDougalls-R ... &sr=8-3&keywords=pea+soup

Nothing is simpler though than buying soup veggies in the produce aisle and making your own. I simmer everything in a big pot for 30 mins or so, put the batch in the fridge and it can last a week. And you can add various herbs and spices when reheating for variety - peppers, tabasco, scallions, ginger ...

Whoops. You are correct, I assumed gastro surgery since I have suffered clear liquid diet several times for gasto stuff. But it could be mouth or such. I apologize to Yvonne.

I like the broth at BOX. Perhaps you could just buy quarts and freeze them.

Chicken broth is very easy to make. I use backs, feet, ginger and scallions. It should gel when its cold which gives a more substantial broth which I like. Ginger is probably good for recuperating.

I am assuming that you need to be on a clear liquid diet.

The broth at Shanghai Best is excellent as well. They use it in all their soups and hot pots. Yummy and very reasonable mini hot pots.

Bummer, been there. Unfortunately most commercial soups have lots of solids, and the plain broths are not top quality. I would focus on the asian restaurants. Vietnamese and Japanese take pride in their broths, but may be confused when you ask for nothing but the broth. Even lowly chinese takeouts often have decent broth for their wonton soup. Maybe the ramen places like Union Republic would sell you plain broth.

Probably not an option unless you've got someone to cook for you, but "Jewish penicillin" is not that hard to make. Chicken and a pack of soup veggies like carrots parsnip and celery. Boil and then strain. Done. I like extra dill in mine.

Don't get it eh? Clear foods...NO SOLIDS! blended solids are still solids as far as the guts are concerned. And often soups that are great with lots of beans, veggies, meat, grain or pasta aren't much in the broth dept, they don't need to be.

Moloneys Meat Market, 627 Newark Av, by the County Courthouse has fresh home-made soups every day. Best to get there before noon.

Excellent quality organic stock, great flavor. Really enjoyed their soup at the JC Eats last month. Plus, they deliver!
