Obviously there is money to be made in oil-change stations and Cr Coleman might have been promised some campaign funding or doing a favor for a family friend or constituent!

I also surmise that we (JC/NJ) is also the oil-exchange place to go for businesses in NY ... NY has since day one, looked at making NJ the dumping ground and space to deal with all their trash and utility needs by setting-up all their toxic or potentially dangerous stations / plants here for them to pump or pipe their stuff in or out.

Ward F under Coleman is a dumping ground for everything no one else wants in their wards. It started with the horrendous use of the retail space at the HUB for the prisoner reentry program and has continued with projects like the oil changing station. Ward F is in a free fall! The community garden has been doing great in a very difficult neighborhood, why is the JCRA looking to destroy it. Because the so called developers of this projects are close friends with the Coleman and the Greenville, missing in action councilman that is why. The community knows it and rightfully resents it.

Another oil station is needed up here just as much as you guys need another pizza shop down there. There is at least 4 within walking distance from this very destination. Councilwomen Coleman wig is too damn tight if she thinks this makes sense.

Avehicular since 1993 so excuse the dumb question - what's an oil change station? Anything more than a place where vehicules get their oil changed (which is horrible enough).

This is horrible, we don't need the Redevelopment Agency, since we dissolve the Parking Authority, we should dissolve this agency, too. Fulops wants wall to wall buildings for his developers friends. Isn't it enough Journal Square has no open space? Communities need gardens.

Residents of Jersey City's inner city have to go far to get great produce.

There's the Pathmark on Route 440, a busy highway that is treacherous to cross on foot. They can take public transportation down to the Downtown ShopRite, or go to Bayonne.

Or, for residents who live near Ocean and Bayview avenues, they can walk over to a community garden at the corner and find free strawberries, cantaloupes, garlic, tomatoes, sage ? you name it.

"I have a whole bed full of collard greens growing for Thanksgiving," Lucinda Lindsey, who helps to tend the garden, said last week. "We ask people what they want us to grow. The kids want watermelon. The adults want kale, healthy things for salads."

But the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency, which owns the lot, wants to sell it to a developer seeking to build an oil-change station there. The City Council must approve the deal by amending a redevelopment plan.
