the parking authority should at least take credit card, even if they have to charge a fee

I have 11 one day visitor parking permits which expire at end of 2014 available free to anyone who wants them as I will not be able to use them.
PM me. Robin.

Unfortunately we have residents that scam the system to get JC parking permits, then make money from them. The difficulties are there to prevent this as best they can - The old JCPA weren't that diligent from preventing this as I hope the new JCPD traffic branch will be.

Thank you, that is all great help - especially the warning of the outdated info on the website, much appreciated.
Does anyone know how hard it is to get the temporary non-resident permit? ($125 for 90-days). I am hoping they are goign to be more lenient on that one. I can not provide W2 or any other document that I employ her yet, she has just started with us last week. The private lots are at the moment cost prohibitive for her. Thank you!

How about just a parking spot in one of those outdoor parking lots? Not cheap, but less paper work than a parking permit and less hassle?

I bought a few visitor day passes early this year and they were $5 each. Even today the JC Parking Authority website states they are $3. It's a pain because they only accept money orders for visitor passes. With good customer service, they would update their website.

technically the car wouldn't need to be registered in JC if the nanny's legal address was someplace else (like her grandmothers house in Doylestown) but should would have to prove she works in JC (via a W2 or something like that)
but yes I agree its $780ish if you just buy a $3 parking passes every day for a year and the "best case" would be getting a $300 permit (which would be a lot of paperwork) so I think that its best to just suck it up and get the temp passes

Before the grandmother even does that, I'd look into the insurance ramifications of having the car registered in JC. Given that auto insurers charge much higher premiums for cars registered in Hudson County, this may not be a cost-effective option.

you are likely going to have to go the way of the $3 day passes
if you don't have a JC registered car (which she doesn't) or a W2 showing work in JC (which the grandmother doesn't) you legally can't get a permit. The only option that would fit with the current rules would be for the grandmother to sell the car for $1 or something to her and you provide W2 (or another document to show that she is working in JC) but that is a bit complicated..... That being said you might get a sympathetic ear at JCPA but I wouldn't count on it I have a company car (that is only used by me but registered in my company name) and I own a house in JC and it took me months of fighting to get a permit (and then I still had to pay the $300 out of town prices)

Hello,
Our nanny just moved in with us, she is a young girl and the car she has belongs to her grandmother, who is lending it to her for few months, until she gets her own. Please don't start on the "you don't need a car in JC", for the family situation she is in, she does need it (unless you know of someone offering rideshare between Doyelstown and JC every weekend). I understand for the parking permit she needs the registration to be in JC, which she can not get unless she is the owner, correct? Does one have to be the owner to buy the 90 day temporary non-resident permit?
