Okay, just to recap before we get all Kum-ba-yah around here:
JC cops - good, unless they're beating up carnival-goers
Hudson County employees - good
DMV - good
Port Authority - bad. Beyond bad. A whole new category of bad.

As you were. Thanks for your time.

I will add my props for the employees that oversee the jury duty process. They were all very helpful when I had to do it last year. Super nice people. Prior to my jury duty dates, I had to postpone a couple of times and I was able to do so with the assistance of a lovely woman who worked with me to get dates that fit into my schedule.

As for the DMV, I have said it before in JCLIST here: the office on Summit (by Sip Avenue) is staffed with incredibly nice and helpful staff. Every visit I have made to that office has been a pleasant experience.

I have to agree. I initially had to reschedule my service and I thought I'd have to go through a hassle to do so. Not at all. The office staff was lovely, worked with me to reschedule my service, and was very kind. Today's service just emphasized their helpfulness.

If you do get called, definitely sign up for the text/email update messages. And if you have to reschedule, make sure you get and review your SECOND jury service notice - this is the one you base your group assignment off of (lesson learned - my mistake!).

Isn't it nice to see Hudson County government working well?

I've had awesome friendly service at the county clerk's office filing for court papers including filing court papers, dmv, and jury duty.

Coming from Manhattan and Brooklyn, where service was just plain awful, I'm happy to be a Jersey girl now!

I had the duty a few weeks ago. I expected the worst, but was completely surprised! Everyone I encountered who worked for the city was friendly and helpful. It blew my mind!
They continually thanked me for my service.

Just make sure you bring a book to read!

I had jury duty a few weeks back (first time ever!) and was very impressed by the efficiency and courtesy of the jury management staff. I kept wondering "wait, do these people really work for the government??".

Just spoke to "Daisy" in the Jury Management Office who cleared everything up for me. She was just terrific in providing me the information I needed. I don't need to report today and I'm done with Jury Duty (at least for the next three years).

Thanks, Daisy!

Thanks for the replies and help.

I am not in either of those groups - my group number is not even listed as a part of this message.

Message for Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Jurors in Group 19 do not have to report and should resume their normal activities but must revisit this website on Wednesday evening after 5:00pm for your reporting instructions for Thursday.

Jurors in Group 18 with juror number 359 through 900; your jury service is finished.

All other jurors who reported on Tuesday; your jury service is also
finished.

** Which group are you in ? 18 or 19? That's the key, here. **

You are not considered postponed or rescheduled.

Wow. It's easy to see why you're confused!

I had a similarly cryptic message several weeks ago, where they put two lines in the wrong order so it looked like I needed to come in even though I was told I was done the day before. Ended up having to go in person to be told otherwise because the phone just rang and rang and no one picked up. Super annoying. (And then I got another summons a couple days later! That one, thankfully, was excused entirely.)

So I was scheduled for Jury Duty today in Hudson County. I received a text message yesterday that I didn't have to report, but I had to check the website tonight for my status tomorrow.

This is the (amended) message on the Hudson County Jury Duty website:

"All jurors postponed or rescheduled to Wednesday, July 30th must report to the 4th Floor of the Administration Building at 9:30am regardless of your juror or group number.

All other jurors who reported on Tuesday; your jury service is also finished."

So, did I technically "report" on Tuesday and was told not to come in? Or was I "postponed" because I didn't have to come in? I am so confused - they do a really poor job of communicating this message to the average Joe.

I have not received any updated email or text messages like I did last night.

HELP!
