I second Dr. Stoopak, very knowledgeable and thorough, explains everything in understandable terms.

I'm another person who can vouch for Dr. Weissman. He's highly recommendable.

I had a choice of hospitals with Dr. Stoopack. I had my colonoscopy and endoscopy at Palisades Medical Center. I have United Healthcare.
I see that Dr. Bart Kummer is a colleague of Dr. Roshini Rajapaksa. I see her on Good Day New York on channel 5 all the time. http://nyutrinitycenter.med.nyu.edu/o ... y/our-gastroenterologists

After having some terrible experiences with locals I found a great one in Manhattan, Dr Joseph Felder, 115 E 57th St. When he diagnosed in a couple of hours what baffled the guys at St Marys for the week I was there (diverticulitis), he said even he found as a patient when you cross the river you're in a whole different world of medical care. He has a story of his son getting injured at their LI home and eventually he had to take him into Manhattan to get proper treatment.
It seems disloyal to JC but trust me, it's worth it to take 2 quick trains to get the best. Many people in this country have to travel far further for any medical treatment, we've got the best in the world across the river.

You will never, ever regret going to Dr. Kummer. A very thoughtful man - asks a lot of questions. Not in a rush.

I always ask my doctor, Dr. John DiGioia, who would he use. He suggested Dr. Paul Weissman, 377 Jersey Avenue, 201-3324110. He is also a pleasant man. Good luck.

Thanks and be thankful for finding one you like. I purchase Individual Health Insurance through Oxford of NJ and must stay "in-network." Christ Hospital is not in network but thanks all the same.

Considering the Path train still runs to WTC during the weekdays, it most certainly does count, thanks! I read about Kummer on Yelp or somewhere on the internet. Looks like his YELP review page was closed? (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kummer-bart-a-md-new-york)
I have been having incredibly painful abdominal pain episodes and my current gastroenterologist is not up to the task, quite literally. He has dreadful reviews on YELP, more than 80% of which are with 1 star rating on scale 1-5, lol. The pain episodes I get usually last 3 to 4 hours in duration during which time I am left to squirm about my apartment, seeking temporary respite in a hot bath. I've had a CT scan and a colonoscopy, both of which were negative. I am in and out of the JC Medical center ER on average once per month. The next step is an MRI but I can't seem to convince the ER docs to give me one as they want to first do another CT scan since my last was six months ago. Ugh. I assume you attest that Bart Kummer is good, thanks for the heads up, I will look into scheduling tomorrow. There is also a guy on Jersey Ave, Arthur Stowe who is only a few blocks from me so I will look into him as well. Quote:

I like Dr. Stoopack. He's low-key.

Does anyone know of a good gastroenterologist in or around Jersey City? Any recommendations in terms of a doctor specializing in gastroenterology?
