Airbnb partners with Jersey City apartment developer to offer home sharing services to residents

Jersey City Urby today announced a major collaboration with Airbnb that will make it the first new building development in the tri-state area to take part in the home sharing marketplace’s Friendly Buildings Program.

Dutch firm Concrete completes tallest residential skyscraper in New Jersey

Amsterdam-based studio Concrete has completed an apartment tower across from Manhattan that features a range of unusual amenities, including a "creative lab", and a residency program for scientists and artists.

Called Jersey City Urby, the 69-storey skyscraper is located at 200 Greene Street in Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan. Rising 713 feet (217 metres), the skyscraper is the tallest residential building in New Jersey, but falls shy of the state's overall tallest structure: the 781-foot-tall (238-metre) 30 Hudson Street office tower.

Jersey City Urby, the tallest residential building in New Jersey, has taken another step toward opening.

The 69-story building with cantilevering floors, at 200 Greene St. in Downtown Jersey City, has opened its on-site leasing office and launched its initial phase of leasing.

Jersey City Urby will feature 762 studio and 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. Studios will start at $2,000, 1-bedroom units at $2,300 and 2-bedroom units at $3,400. Occupancy is expected to begin in early April, officials said.

In just a little over a month from now, one of New Jersey’s tallest buildings—Jersey City Urby, will welcome its first residents, and today the development team has launched its initial phase of leasing.

This 69-story skyscraper features a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms with rents starting from $2,000/month for a studio. One bedrooms start at $2,300/month and two-bedrooms will be available from $3,400/month, but not all of the tower’s 762 apartments are coming online just yet.

‘A place with a soul’ Jersey City residential tower becomes tallest in the state

 Standing in the bright sunlight, Ironstate Development President David Barry had a lot to smile about. The topping out of URL Harborside 1 at 713 feet on Sept. 27 made the new multi-family tower on the Jersey City waterfront the tallest residential building in New Jersey.

When the joint venture between Mack-Cali Realty Corporation and Ironstate Development Company broke ground last year, Barry believed he was creating something more than just another residential development. Even erecting the tallest residential tower in New Jersey didn’t quite capture what he was trying to do.

For years, he’d been contemplating a whole new kind of urban living. Key to this was his new 69-story multi-family residential building. Labeled URL (Urban Ready Living) Harborside, the project will provide 763 contemporary rental residences.

Barry’s concept was to provide residents with compact, environmentally-friendly residential units in a structure that also included a number of public areas. Fully integrated with the internet, the units would allow residents to interact through social media. But the building itself would provide numerous public spaces.
