There are some forced air systems set up so you shift the intake seasonally from the highest point in summer to the lowest in winter.

Does anybody know if regular (vented) gas fireplaces are legal in JC? Mostly just curious, I would like to have one someday.

I believe ventless fireplaces are illegal. All good wishes to CDeCoincy, but they've had some problems. I'd highly recommend having several carbon monoxide detectors (which is a good idea for everyone, anyway).

As you can see, it can be shipped to NJ, however you'd need to know if JC has banned them. I should add, that as I recall, it cost almost as much to install as to purchase.

A longtime tenant just told me a room has been cold, it turns out the automatic air bleed valve on the radiator was not working. Easy fix, but he had to tell me.

anyone have any input on one of those faux fireplace looking heaters? We have a finish first floor rec room that gets chilly (only one zone on the heating and its right next to the kitchen which of course stays pretty warm in the evening when I am cooking)
we got a little delonghi ceramic blower tower and its not bad but I would prefer something a bit more permanent/stylish the room is about 600 sq ft which seems to be problematic as most say 400 sq ft max

There's lots of causes of such imbalances, such as tenants blocking the convection of radiators or a bad vent valve.

The Dyson heater is combined with a fan that distributes the heat so the whole room is heated, not just the space near the heater. You can run the fan alone in the summer. It works as advertised. It's very expensive. I got a large discount at Costco.
I have a home office that is 5 degrees colder than the rest of the apartment. Rather than raising the thermostat for the whole apartment, I hoped it would be more economical to heat the office and keep the rest of the apartment at a lower temp. Apparently, the cost of the electricity for the heater made up for any gas savings and my bills were not any lower. Fortunately, Cosco has a very liberal return policy.

Vornado fan/space heaters were very good for us when renting with those terrible wall units. They did a much better job and were quieter and cheaper.

I am assuming you want electric and not Propane and kerosene heaters. Here in my office at work is always chilly and I use a Honeywell with a thermostat so it turns off once it reaches 65 degrees and turns it self back on when the temp gets lower than that.
You can program it to reach up to 80 degrees which is crazy hot. IMO that seems to be the safest since it turns it self off.

What would be the best, safest indoor heater? Which one is an economically good choice in a long run? Your opinion needed.. We want to get a but warmer but also keep the building safe. Thank you!
