You probably looked around google?.the price does seem to be a couple of thousand dollars or higher. One way to look at it is at least you got it done and over with before mold and mildew set in. http://www.costowl.com/home-improveme ... -flood-clean-up-cost.html http://home.costhelper.com/water-damage.html http://www.cleanermatch.com/residential/clean-up-after-flood.html Good luck. Oddly one thing I found interesting in reading the sites about basement flood cleanup. It says you must drain/pump the water out over a few days, a little at a time. I guess it is to stabilize the structure, letting parts dry out as it drains.

For that price you could have bought the equipment yourself for 1/6 of the price and then rented it out to neighbors for every flood in the future.

one of many local businesses that were helping out -
http://www.jerseycityindependent.com/ ... ter-free-of-charge-today/ The Jersey City-based development firm Brunelleschi Construction is offering to pump out flooded homes today free of charge. Contact them at 201-395-9900 to make an appointment. ?We have a high powered pump and we will be pumping out as many neighbors as we can today,? they said in a post on the JCI Facebook page. Brunelleschi Construction has worked on numerous buildings throughout the area since 2002 and are currently renovating the building at 8 Erie Street.

As I walked around the flooded areas of JC the day after Sandy I wondered how much all these guys were charging to pump water out peoples basements. I saw a few instances where water was going out of one basement apartment and rising the water level in a way that was essentially dumping it into the basement apartment next door.

Absolute Construction charged $2800 to pump out my flooded condo. Granted it took 5 hours, but thats still over $500/hr.
