I do not know who Grovepath is, I post here because the Mayor and his Team seem to read this Blog. They claim crime is down, I post here so they can see we are not spreading fear and we have not created fear through out the community. I post here because maybe we all can help stop it in Greenville, DTJC, The Heights and where ever it is occurring. I am all for knowing where the best Humus place is in JC but I also want to feel safe so that I may go and enjoy it without being stabbed, shot or mugged. I have been a resident of DTJC for 15 yrs originally from Williamsburg Brooklyn. I have seen that neighborhood change for the better and so has this one. I am also smart enough to know that my chances of experiencing a crime is much greater living downtown JC than Greenville or any other area. Criminals are not dumb, they go where the money is. I have had several roommates in the pass who were mugged through out the dtjc area and twice during broad daylight. Some want to believe that JC is the sixth borough of NYC, well NYC has cops on foot patrol everywhere, I work in NYC and everywhere I go from the Bronx to the Lower East Side I feel safe. Yes the mayor and his team should address these crimes every Mayor from NYC To Newark makes a statement when an 12 year old boy is shot dead and and his body is moved to the street, or when a young kid is gunned down on the street. I expect more from these guys, much more.

In reality the Jersey Journal should of had an article that read "Five Shot, One dead In Four Separate Shootings In Three And A Half Hours".

Friday 11:01PM: 42 year old Pizza Delivery man shot 5 times during a robbery at Neptune and Garfield.

Saturday 1:49AM 22 year old and 27 year old shot once each at Newark and Coles.

Saturday 2:18AM 23 year old shot once on New Heckman Drive

Saturday 2:30AM Murdered 21 year old shot multiple times from two different guns at Ocean and Myrtle.

Healy is pulling a Zimmer. Overall crime might be down but violent crime is up. Maybe it is just me but I rather get my car broken into or pick pocketed then get attacked or robbed. Rape, Robbery, Assaults, and auto theft are all up. Robbery is up for the second year in a row.

Rape:.........2010-44........2011-46........UP
Robbery:....2010-943......2011-959......UP
Assaults:....2010-817......2011-877......UP
Burglary:....2010-1523.....2011-1402....DOWN
Larceny:.....2010-3662.....2011-3425....DOWN
Auto Theft: 2010-807.......2011-855......UP
Arson:........2010-51.........2011-32........DOWN

Hey user1111?GrovePath used to post the daily crime stories that were printed in the JJ. GP would always put a prefix of the section of JC that it happened in. Journal Square:, Bergen Lafayette:, Greenville:, Greenville:, Greenville: Greenville:, etc. You could tell GP was an older-newcomer because GP would sometimes bollix up the sections especially taking liberties with the section GP dubbed Saint Peter?s College:. Also GP would never put in Downtown: when a crime happened in DTJC. I started to try and beat GP to the punch with the JJ crime posts. I would always make sure I did in fact put Downtown: as a prefix. (those very rare times when a crime actually happened in DTJC that is?ha!)

There were of course the never ending battles of whether Montgomery Gardens was part of DT or not. GP (and newcomers) seem to think DTJC?s boundary is the TP, but we all know you have to go by zip code or JC old-timers memories of JC neighborhoods. And no you DTJC newcomers can?t claim Liberty State Park it is not in DTJC!! I will state it here ?NO DIBS on LSP! (and no ?I had my fingers crossed? bullshi*, this is official oldschool JC stuff and you must abide by the NO dibs policy)

You came along and started posting the JJ crime pieces. You did start a nice trend of not using any prefixes. I like that because we are ALL in this ?ball of confusion? (great Temptations song) together regardless of which section of JC we live in. And we wouldn?t want to embarrass DTJC with the multitude of the Downtown: prefixed crime threads now would we?

I only hope GrovePath did not become a victim in a page 12 Jersey Journal crime piece. Like ?tern? said GP has not been around for a while. Some posters might say they actually miss GrovePath or maybe just GP?s sad little man avatar.

Why should they ? This is just another day in the crime ridden city we live in. If there were innocent victims here then yes a visit from our elected officials would be warranted.

So what happened to "GrovePath", and who is this new user1111 stealing his place posting the crime stories from the Jersey Journal?

Robin.
