Jersey City does not have permit parking, we have zoned parking. It totally boggles the mind that people still ask what is going on with zoned parking. (Permits are only issued for a couple of streets)

ONE MORE TIME.....

Zoned parking mean nothing after 6pm till 9am (or there a bouts), holidays & weekends. If City agencies are closed, there is no street cleaning or zoned parking enforcement. Hell, you can park at a meter between 6pm & 9am without feeding the beast. Why is this so hard to understand?

to me this says that zone rules are in effect which means you still need a sticker or temp pass but you can park on any side of the street regardless of the street "sweeping"

I used a temp on friday but just wondering if I am reading it wrong? I only have like 2 left and I feel a cold coming on. I rather save them if I need them for when I am sick.

When I called JCPA and asked what to do they told me I had to reapply and pay all over again. PAIN.

I went in the next day to see if I could get a second opinion in person, because surely they'd have me on record and can just print out a new sticker? Clearly not. "You have to start over."

I went back the next day with all my forms, the application & money, and this time there was an uniformed PA officer behind the desk. She told me not to be ridiculous, my current permit is good till August - I'll just print you out a 30 day temp tag and when your plates and reg come in the mail just bring 'em over, pay 1$ for the transfer and that's that.

still a hassle full of mixed messages, but at least I came away feeling victorious.

Congratulations! Those who are helpful & know what is going on at that place are the exception - not the rule.

Here is the schedule for this holiday weekend:

Municipal Offices Closed Monday, January 2nd, In Observance of New Year?s Day; Free 2 Hour Parking In Municipal Lots & Suspension of Alternate Side of The Street Parking Rules Continue Through January 2, 2012!

All Municipal Offices will be closed for the observance of New Year?s Day, Monday, January 2, 2012. Regular trash pick-ups will continue as scheduled, but street sweeping will be suspended. Municipal Offices will reopen at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Remeber, the JCIA is the agency that handles matters of street cleaning & trash/recycling issues. The website is JCIAonline.org & is pretty user friendly. Also you can refer to the Jersey Journal, it was in yesterday's paper or to the city website - cityofjerseycity.com.

Have a happy & safe New Year.

Anyone know if parking police will be out or not on Monday the 2nd? Pretty sure it's a federal holiday, but who knows what JC will be up to... Thanks.

Why anyone would go to the Parking Authority for anything is beyond me. The agency is filled with Healy's braindead drunken footsoldiers and ticket buyers. There are a few who try but you have to look hard.

If you ever want to know anything about parking/cleaning schedules, leaf pickup, garbage, etc. just got to JCIAonline.org. Fairly user friendly place.

Found it myself:

"Alternate-side parking rules will also be suspended the week between Christmas and New Year (Dec.
26th through Jan. 2nd), but the sweeper will still sweep the streets. Any cars that do not move will not
be ticketed. During that week, however, zone parking and meters will still be enforce"

Does suspending alternate side of the street parking mean I can get away with parking in a 2-hour parking zone without a permit?? Monday, December 26th?

According to the City of Jersey City website...

Regular trash pick-ups will continue, but alternate side of the street parking will be suspended from Monday, December 26th through Friday, December 30th, 2011.
