This thread has become about dogshit. As usual. Even though it's not about dogshit. It's about an accusation. So, the only important question here is who the white-haired JCFD vigilante is.

When dogs pee, the arch their lower spine/hips, like "cow" pose in yoga, but #2 they hunch with a pelvic tilt, like "cat."
Also, they seem to smile when they pee, but look mostly embarrassed when they poo. I guess our pets they really do have human qualities!

I assume so, because if the dog had in fact taken a dump, and the OP was indeed guilty, she probably wouldn't have started this thread.

The dog in the above pic appears to be peeing.
Okay, here's what happened. There's a fire hydrant at the corner of 8th and W. Hamilton. My dog peed there. The firefighter was driving down 8th toward the hydrant. He saw my dog squatting from 30-40 feet away and then saw me walk away without picking anything up. That's where he stopped his truck. He did not bother to walk over and look at what had been deposited at the hydrant. If he had, he would have seen a wet sidewalk. He assumed that the dog was pooping because she was in a squatting position, apparently not realizing that a female dog's peeing position is similar to its pooping position.

I know this owner and she is one of the most responsible dog owners I know. I can 100% vouch for her :) Quote:
Yes, sadly I think the 'Pet Free' signs are still confusing people. They are not clearly defined enough. I am amazed at the high numbers of kids groups and picnic folk daily on the Pet Lawns on Jersey Ave. I have been told the dogs I walk should not be on those lawns by park users, playing with their toddlers and eating lunch. Once I explain to them they are mistaken and likely playing or sitting on piss and left over poop, they usual apologize and move rather quickly. I think the flower bed signs are leading some to believe the entire lawn behind them are no pet zones.

This is something weird going on here. Why does everyone immediately assumes that yes, close inspection was necessary? How is it possible that one sees the dog, and then sees the dog walk away, - but can't tell what exactly the dog did? Obviously, there was nothing obstructing the view, no? Why do we assume that the dog owner is telling the truth?

Absolutely, I'm sure Amy would agree that it would be great if cops wrote some tickets but this guy was wrong. He should do a better job of checking his facts before attacking people. It's amazing how many people think it's okay to just say anything to a dog-owner who is doing nothing wrong. Can't tell you how many old biddies have said something while I'm walking my dogs. "You're not allowed to be here" blah, blah, blah. People need to figure out the facts and who their responsible neighbors are before they go stepping over the line.

Its about time someone is doing something about this. Too bad it has to come from the JCFD instead of the JCPD!!!

How could that guy possibly be mistaken? I am no detective, but I've seen poop. I would think that recognizing it is something that any human being figures out at the tender age of... well, less than a year. Without any need to close the distance. And that guy, - he still can't tell one from another?

I once witnessed a car break in outside my home. I was so vigilant watching every move several weeks after than when I noted a person loitering around a vehicle, peering in etc., I shouted "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" and pointed to my phone staying I had them on speed dial to the cops. Lo and behold a woman walks out from behind the car with a leash...and a dog...who was peeing on the tree beside the car. She was merely peering in at her reflection of what appears to have been her OWN car, they are, in fact neighbors. Sigh.

Yes, people should really look before they leap. Next time tell him to hang out by the basketball courts and berate the litter pigs if he's looking for something to do.

To the firefighter who stopped his vehicle expressly to confront/humiliate me for not picking up my dog's poop:
1. Thank you for being so vigilant. People who don't pick up after their dogs should be reprimanded, even ticketed. 2. Please don't use profanity when you make your accusation, and please listen when the person tells you they have a female dog and female dogs squat to pee. My dog had indeed peed, and if you had taken the time to go with me to the spot where the act took place, you would have seen that. 3. When I held up my biodegradable dog poop bag and offered to prove to you that my dog had peed, you should have applauded me. Okay, maybe that's going a bit too far. 4. Have a nice day. (Seriously. Thanks again for being so vigilant.)
