Why should the police go after violent drug dealers, and gang members who shoot back, when it's easier to arrest people who are chillin' and just smoking weed.

OMG. I saw this go down (I live on Griffith) and THIS WAS MY BACKYARD they are talking about. The suspect actually opened my fence, stomped on two of my trash can lids, and jumped over my backyard fence!
Such a nice welcome as I just moved in a month ago :)

yes, keep pot out of kids' hands....let them smoke K2 and kill themselves...ugh how about busting people for selling real dangerous drugs like crack cocaine and heroin - sucks that the state still allows prosecution for marijuana while there is senseless violence going on in the hood (not over pot). Sigh.

Jersey City police say drug bust in Heights nets more than 16 pounds of marijuana, most of it packaged for distribution, and 3 men are arrested
Saturday, May 07, 2011 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Jersey City police seized more than 16 pounds of suspected marijuana and arrested three men during a drug probe focused on a Heights residence this week, officials said yesterday. On Tuesday police arrested Christopher Broderick, 24, of Lake Street; Nikesh Desal, 28, of Griffith Street, and Manish Patel, 24, of Iselin, reports said. They were charged with drug offenses including possession with intent to distribute near a school and near public property, reports said. Officers conducting surveillance at Desal's home near Summit Avenue at 4:35 p.m. saw Patel and Desal enter the building and Desal was carrying a full garbage bag, reports said. A short time later, Patel walked out with a full garbage bag, placed it in the trunk of his BMW and drove away, reports said. Perimeter units stopped the BMW at Franklin Street and Central Avenue, and found the bag contained more than 5 pounds of suspected pot in vacuum-sealed bags, reports said. At 5:21 p.m., Broderick entered the building carrying an empty duffel bag and when he walked out it was full, reports said. Broderick took off running when he saw police but was caught in a backyard and the bag was found to contain more than 4 pounds of suspected marijuana in vacuum sealed-bags, reports said. Police then entered Desal's residence and found nearly 7 pounds of suspected pot, a vacuum-sealing machine and vacuum seal bags, reports said. When Desal was arrested in the residence, he resisted being handcuffed and had to be wrestled to the floor, reports said. During the three arrests police seized more than $5,000 in suspected narcotics proceeds, reports said.
