I know it is not Spanish, but I just saw in the old St. Mary's high school on 3rd St. in Jersey City a sign for a French immersion school opening in September.
http://www.thefrenchabc.com/ I do not think it is public though.

Hi,
I am the parent council president at #5 school and my son attends the dual language program. If you PM I can send you my information and set up a tour of the school it is a great program and starts in Pre-K 4. You will have to apply next year and interview for the program there are usually more applications than spaces available.

thank you for the info. Our child is already enrolled for preschool starting in Sept, but the school only offers pre-K 3. We were more interested for pre-K 4 for the following school year.

There are 2 dual language programs in the Jersey City public school system. One at P.S. 3 which starts at Pre-K 3 and one at P.S. 5 which starts at Pre-K 4. They are citywide programs.
They try to get an equal amount of English speakers and Spanish speakers in each class. I believe the deadline for applying was May 6th, but don't let that discourage you from inquiring. I heard through a parent at the school that, as of May 5th, they had slightly over 40 applicants for 36 available spots at P.S. 3. But she did not know how many of those applicants were English speaking families and how many were Spanish speaking families. In the past they have had more applicants from English speaking families. Again, don't let that discourage you from inquiring. Spanish is the only dual language program offered in the public schools right now.

You can't enroll your child in Hola unless you are a Hoboken resident. It's a lottery process so even if you were a Hoboken resident there is no guarantee that you'll get in.
I've heard good things about the dual language program at PS 3. I think it's a lottery as well.

My husband and I live in the Heights and are curious about enrolling our child at either HoLa in Hoboken or PS 5 in Jersey City. Does anyone have any experience with either school? I have a niece and nephew in TX who both go to a Spanish immersion school and their parents have nothing but good things to say about it.
