If there isn't good signage they might just not know. Leave a note for them before you get all tow-happy. It is an alleyway after all, and not a parking lot.

Thanks for all the information. The situation has resolved itself for now -- I left a note, and the car is gone. Thanks for the link to how to report issues within Jersey City. I'll keep that handy.

They inconvenienced you, now it's your turn. Park them in and leave a note that they're in your space that you pay for, and you'll be back in an hour.

How long have they been there? Depending on how nice you're feeling, you could wait a little bit and then tow them, but I would definitely tow them if they aren't gone soon. It's YOUR parking space, and your space that you've paid to use. You have all the right to tow them. It sucks getting towed, but after all, they should have known better.

See the Section on Improper / Illegal parking and call the number listed. Good luck!

I rent a private parking space, off an alley, with my apartment. Today, after several days on the road, I discovered my spot filled with another car. Other residents in the apartment don't know whose it is.

What recourses to I have? Is this a police matter? Can I have them towed? Does any one have any recommendations that I can follow to keep this from happening again?

Thanks
