Maybe - but if they move 400 well paid jobs here (from NYC) - then many of these people (& their significant others) will live here too - and they will need to shop, eat, rent, drink, buy/pay taxes, etc... Is that bad for you?

Where are these jobs relocating from? I assume they are coming from out of state, since I doubt the state would pay them to move jobs from one NJ town to another. I don't know how anyone can say that the grant and the jobs will cancel each other out.

Citibank is weighing whether to take $12 million New Jersey is offering it to move 400 jobs to Jersey City
Thursday, March 10, 2011 The state is offering Citibank $12 million to relocate 400 jobs to Jersey City - but the financial giant is playing coy about whether it's accepting the cash, according to a report in yesterday's Star-Ledger. The $12 million is included in $28 million in grants the New Jersey Economic Development Authority announced yesterday it's giving out. This package also includes $10 million to keep Church & Dwight, the maker of Arm & Hammer, from moving its headquarters outside the state, the newspaper said. The $12 million offered to Citibank is to relocate workers to the Newport Office Center III in Jersey City, which is located on the waterfront near the Newport PATH station. A spokeswoman for Citibank said the company is "exploring additional office space to accommodate growth plans in the tri-state area, but has not entered into any definitive arrangements." Laura Jones, the spokeswoman for the state authority, said the company applied for the grant, "so there's clearly an interest." Citibank had a total of 4,212 employees in New Jersey at the time of the application. It previously received $57 million in grants in 2004 and another $37 million in grants in 2006 to bring about 2,800 of those employees to New Jersey, according to the authority. JOURNAL STAFF
