$25 for a one time shot doesn't sound too bad. it's not like you're going to be out there every week (and if so, you would get the membership).

Seems like a much better deal than what V17 is offering, plus it looks like a decent space. Assuming they can get people in the doors and racing it should be a great place. I know I'll be there.

Maybe the Manhattanites that use the National Golf Course will walk over to the Kart Races for a spin. You can take the Grand Prix racing out of Jersey City, but you can't take Jersey City out of the racing business.

Over the summer a plan to bring a Grand Prix race to Liberty State Park was met with overwhelming resistance. Now kart racing is coming to the city.

The business, with two quarter-mile tracks, will open at 99 Caven Point Road next month, and is owned by Karen and Eyal Farage of Manhattan.

Pole Position Raceway has five other locations - Corona and Murrieta in California, Las Vegas and Summerlin in Nevada, and Oklahoma City, Okla., all owned by the company, which was founded in 2005.

The 80,000-square foot facility will feature all-electric, emission-free indoor karts that are capable of reaching speeds of 45 miles an hours.

It will give people an opportunity to experience authentic side-by-side racing action with up to 10 drivers per track. There will be adult karts for racers at least 56 inches tall, as well as junior karts for kids who are at least 48 inches tall.

Pole Position Raceway is the "most authentic experience in the nation," Farage said.

"It is built for racers by racers. The people who started the company were successful car racers. We have a European style of track - with plenty of turns and straightaways, like a Grand Prix track."

There are things to keep visitors busy when they're not racing, including "high-end arcade games, for children and adults and video screens for sports programming," said Karen Farage, who called Pole Position Raceway the start of her and her husband's second careers.

Karen Farage said she lost her job in the software industry 18 months ago and Eyal's business as a contractor slowed dramatically when the economy got worse.

Racing will be available to the general public on a walk-in basis and also is available to groups for parties or corporate events.

This will be huge - the next closest track of this caliber for cart racing is in bumble-f PA.

For gear-heads/racing gurus this is a dream come true.
