I can't help feeling a bit sorry for someone who visits from North Carolina and ends up in that area by accident after midnight. It's not so obviously bad to someone from out of town, especially someone from a different sort of place, that you can really blame them for being over there late. A person could see the A&P (and TD bank and Best Buy and...) and not even be aware of the projects nearby.

They should when they get home but here in NJ people can't carry firearms unless they are cops so there's nothing to worry about. Oh, wait, what happened?

Henderson Street is the former name of Marin Blvd. They named Henderson in honor of the first Governor of Puerto Rico. The TD referenced in the article IS the TD next to A&P. I don't think its much of a surprise. There is an intense impoverished segment of the population just West of Marin.

Attacked, robbed after using Jersey City ATM
By Gem Jefferson/The Jersey Journal February 09, 2010, 6:15AM A North Carolina resident was attacked and robbed in the parking lot of TD Bank in Jersey City yesterday morning, reports said. The 22-year-old victim told police he had withdrawn money from the ATM at the TD Bank at 597 Henderson St. at 12:48 a.m. when he was grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground, punched in the face and robbed by two men dressed in black with black ski masks. The assailants stole $200 and two debit/credit cards and fled north on Marin Boulevard, the victim said.  (from the JJ, support buy the JJ)
