I hope that they catch the a$$holes, but that is pretty rare.

Houses with barking dogs are rarely burglarized in reference to another thread ... especially if the dog has a bit of an edge. I don't necessarily like when someone adopts a "watch dog" but some are just naturally territorial and house protective which is a benefit aside from companionship.

I always wonder if security cameras catch low lives walking to and from a crime scene. Even private security cameras outside businesses and residences have data stored. C-town's cameras cover one corner of Third and Jersey Avenue.

Most experienced Jersey City detectives will recognized the "usual suspects" if they can see their faces near or around a crime scene on a security camera. I wonder if the investigating officers take it to that level instead of just filing a report.

i am on disability(short term) so i am home all day. I really hope they rob the guy above me if they rob anyone. he's a douche and i don't want to have to run down my deck with two cats and try to jump a fence while crippled.

Wow breaking door frames they'll do anything without fear. They probably cased the joint before entering. As Bob Dylan said "when you aint got nothin you got nothin to lose"

What's the cross street? Maybe one of your neighbors saw something. It might be a good idea to put up a few flyers on the block warning people of break ins. That really sucks, sorry for your lost items and aggravation.
Also check out Jemma Loan pawn shop on Newark Avenue. A few years back my neighbor was broken into and was able to recover his guitar from there. I think they also caught the guys after that.

I too, returned from work on Thursday night last week to find my condo robbed.

Also towards Monmouth Street, my 3rd and 4th Floor apartment was broken into sometime between 8.00am Wednesday to 11.30pm Thursday, the thieves pried and destroyed the interior front door.

The thieves stole over $5,500 worth of my Canon cameras, film equipment and Apple ipods and a Macbook Pro all placed into my North Face Pack and stolen.

My apartment was slightly ransacked, the large ticket items where in sight.

Returns home from trip, finds jewels stolen
Monday, October 26, 2009

A Downtown Jersey City resident returned home from a golfing trip Friday to find more than $5,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables stolen from his second floor apartment, police reports said.

Called to the victim's Monmouth Street apartment at 4:45 p.m., cops met the 39-year-old who said he left home at 8:45 a.m., and when he returned he found his front door frame in pieces on the floor, reports said.

The victim said the thieves swiped a gold Tiffany bracelet, a Movado watch, an engraved ring, a Panasonic TV, and cash, all totaling $5,490 in value, reports said.

The apartment was not ransacked. The missing items were in plain sight, reports said.
