Shot over the last 2 years from JC. Footage to be featured in a upcoming Smithsonian / Discovery Channel documentary. I believe it shows our city's views off nicely as well.

I was able to run a time lapse from Jersey City before the storm hit. It covers landfall through the black out.

Fulop, Simply put that would be, Sweet.

I got hit with a re-assessment combined a retro-active tax increase back to mid 2008 of over $2,500 with about a month's notice to pay it all out.

Thanks Jersey City!!

I too, returned from work on Thursday night last week to find my condo robbed.

Also towards Monmouth Street, my 3rd and 4th Floor apartment was broken into sometime between 8.00am Wednesday to 11.30pm Thursday, the thieves pried and destroyed the interior front door.

The thieves stole over $5,500 worth of my Canon cameras, film equipment and Apple ipods and a Macbook Pro all placed into my North Face Pack and stolen.

My apartment was slightly ransacked, the large ticket items where in sight.

Real quick, Where is there a good spot to research Jersey City ordinances?

Specifically where would I find the official Jersey City Noise ordinance as it pertains to residents and residential properties?

Hi folks I want to talk about some of SefZi comments,

Straight up, You're swimming so far up stream against the basic human wiring of common sense, If we could just capture the contrary energy going on inside your tiny brain-washed judgmental little skull, We could power the very Path trains that carry us into the city every morning. Give us something to work with, I'm predisposed to like most people because it makes the day go smoother. But help us out, I even voted for Gore and Kerry, and I'll be the first admit that rent increases in Jersey City has nothing to do with democrats or republicans.

And really, If you've lived here all your life, I truly don't understand how you could talk about this topic so unemotionally as a big grown-up? Shouldn't you care about the fabric of your community somewhat?

And listen, nobody here are "martyrs and crusaders" We just don't want to lose or our home. Hey, come on guys, displace us if you must but don't take for chumps.

Binky,

Sample rent increase;

2005= 5%
2006= 5%
2007= 5%
2008=22%

Get it?

For everyone, this building subjected to the 22% rent increase is a 4 unit brown stone like many others in the van vorst park area. I know this because I live there.

The building refered does not fall under rent control, As it only has 4 units.

Upon crusing some real estates site, I found our area Median income. c/o Coldwell Bankers

Located in Hudson County, this neighborhood in JERSEY CITY with a population of 34,871, and has shown moderate growth since 1990 with 18% population growth.

Median Age 34
Median Income $50,203
Married 26%
Households with Children 25%

It truly is an unfortunate situation when one finds themselves forced out our there home & community by why of an unreasonable rent increase. Think the point here is to open a dialogue in the community as this could happen to anyone, because there is little protection otherwise.

I think the point of this is discussing unfair rent increases, Not real-estate pricing in the city. Focus.

Upon speaking with the JC Landlord/Tenant Relations Office, They suggested court action & buildings in Jersey City must have 5 units to fall under rent control laws.

Maybe I'll begin construction of the newly-added-apartment on our roof, Any hands?
