Just to update:
They have not put the handrails up yet, but they have just finished placing the paver's down (they were sweeping up the sand that is used as mortar this morning).

This stretch of walkway is very nice - too bad they can't clean the garbage out of the marshes that is visible at low tide.

Officials welcome opening of half-mile stretch of Hudson River Walkway
by Tom Shortell/The Jersey Journal Monday June 15, 2009, 3:00 PM Mayor Jerramiah Healy joins open space advocates, Liberty National Golf Club executives and Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone at a Hudson River Waterfront Walkway ribbon cutting. Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, state officials, open space advocates and the executives of Liberty National Golf Course gathered at the opening of the newest branch of Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in Liberty State Park Monday. The walkway is a half-mile stretch connecting the Caven Point section of the park to the public boat launch. It goes through Port Liberte and alongside Liberty National Golf Course. An egret stands in the marsh off the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in Liberty State Park. The path is the latest addition to the planned walkway, which will link nine towns in two counties. "When it's completed, you can walk, bike, or, in my case, cab it from the southern tip of Bayonne to the George Washington Bridge," Healy said. About seven miles of the walkway's 18.5-linear length, mostly in Bayonne and Edgewater, still have to be completed, said Helen Manogue, president of the president of the Hudson River Waterfront Conservancy.
