stop confusing things, newport is a very specific bubble area. Its price is a lot higher than rest of downtown.

1br is 2k, so 3k for 2br is reasaonble, although you may get some sort of deal renting from owners directly than lefrak.

however price is not outrageous, it's the going rate.

I was poking around yesterday and prices are waaaay down in the major condo towers, at least according to the couple of agents i have spoken with. The smaller landlords however have not come down as much, but they are sure to eventually follow.

perusing the for rent section of craigslist would certainly offer you better alternatives than what you are being offered.

my experience is that some of the smaller landlords in jersey city are squeezed due to the economy and whatnot, so if you are really looking for a deal, your best bet is to see what the local small landlords have to offer.

$3k for a 2br is a joke. you could get a decent 2br for half the price in "certain" downtown sections and approx $2k at the "nicer" areas ....

but $3k .... my god!

so I just called to see what 2 bedrooms are in the green buildings--the towers of america and they are seriously asking for $3000...

you've got to be kidding me!!? In this economy??

I've lived in the atlantic in a one bedroom for six years and I was stunned...

is this right? any feedback would be appreciated.
