So the witnesses had to take it upon themselves to search the web for photos, rather than JCPD having the wherewithal to ask them to go through mugshots.

Quote:
Wilson has been arrested 18 times in New Jersey and has been convicted on charges including robbery, burglary, receiving stolen property, theft and five counts of drug possession, police said. So this could make 19. Does the 20th victim get a door prize? How about some stronger sentences for violent repeat offenders?

Mugging witness finds suspect on Internet
by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal Friday January 09, 2009, 1:55 PM Anthony Wilson was busted in the mugging of a 62-year-old Jersey City woman after a witness found his photo on the Department of Corrections Web site, cops said. A little Internet detective work by a Greenville resident led to arrest of a Jersey City man yesterday on charges he mugged a 62-year-old woman last week on Eastern Parkway, cops told The Jersey Journal today. Anthony Wilson, 44, of Fairmount Avenue, who has nine prior felony convictions, was arrested at 10 a.m. at his home near Boland Street and charged with robbery and theft, reports said. Wilson has been arrested 18 times in New Jersey and has been convicted on charges including robbery, burglary, receiving stolen property, theft and five counts of drug possession, police said. At 3:34 p.m. Jan. 2, police responded to the victim's home and she told them she was entering her residence through an alley door when a man came up behind her and snatched her purse from her left shoulder, reports said. Two neighbors saw the robber running away with the victim chasing him and they gave detailed descriptions to the police, reports said. Another witness identified the robber as "Green Eyes" and gave police the name of the man driving the car the robber fled in, reports said. This witness then searched the New Jersey Department of Corrections Web site and he and the victim recognized the robber from a mugshot on the site, reports said. Police then showed the victim a photo lineup containing a more recent photograph of Wilson and she picked him out saying, "This is the man that took my pocketbook," reports said. The purse contained $100, a cell phone and various credit cards, report said, adding that the victim said her shoulder was sore after the robbery. Wilson was in state prison from April 13, 2006 to Nov. 18, 2007 on a conviction for drug possession, officials said, adding that he also goes by the aliases Anthony Grant, Thomas Hicks and Tony Wilson.
