Jersey City cops busted a 16-year-old boy and seized suspected cocaine, suspected heroin and a gun after a Downtown foot chase Monday night, official said.

The Montgomery Gardens public housing complex resident was arrested just before 10 p.m. at York and Brunswick streets, and charged with several weapons offenses and multiple drug charges, including possession with intent to distribute near a school and near public property, reports said.

Officers responded on a call of two boys on a scooter seen handling a gun at the Pathmark supermarket on Grand Street, and when the scooter crashed at York and Monmouth streets cops saw the boy running away, reports said.

After a brief chase and a scuffle, the boy was arrested and officers found he had 17 vials of suspected cocaine and three small bags of suspected heroin, reports said, adding that the 9mm handgun was found along the route he'd run.

JCPD caught a kid with drugs and were looking for another that took off toward Pathmark. They said the suspects were from Booker T Washington, which I assume is the name of housing. Most of the commotion was at the other end of the street, so I'm not sure if they caught the second suspect.
