Robbed by 4 teen girls in Gordon Park

Four Jersey City girls were arrested Wednesday night after allegedly mugging a woman in Leonard Gordon Park.

The 19-year-old victim told police she was walking home shortly before 11 p.m. when the four girls ran down the steps of the park's gazebo and surrounded her, reports said.

The girls grabbed her cell phone and purse and took about $45, then returned the items - but not the cash - after the woman told them she had gotten the purse from her mother before she died, reports said.

The muggers, aged between 14 and 17, fled east through Leonard Gordon Park toward Kennedy Boulevard, and were picked up by cops on Pershing Plaza about 15 minutes later, police said.

One of the girls had a steak knife and another had a cloth tied at one end that contained several rocks, reports said.
