You are slowing digesting the way things are done here. We the lifers have come to accept it as a way of life. Although in the last 10 years the City has been working harder than they ever did before thanks to all the new and unsuspecting residents.

Long story short. I was pulling in front of Club H at the corner of Waren and CC and as I park, I hear this loud POP. I get out of the car and see my tire exploded - well, were these pipes sticking out of the ground, close to the curb. $200 later for a new tire and a 1/2 day missed work, I was really pissed. I submitted a claim to the city and in no time, I received a check for the expense. I was very impressed with how fast it was resolved. THANKS!

yeah, comparing NYC to JC, why that would be like comparing a mayor who's been seriously considered for a presidential run to one who's been face down and cuffed for disorderly conduct in a bar parking lot. This pretty much says it all. We are less than a mile geographically from NYC buy light years in public service.

thank you all.
This was actually due to the crazy new traffic pattern coming out of the covered roadway. I got sent to those crazy backroads under the turnpike.

YES: Note date and time of incident, take pictures of said pothole, then go down personally to the Risk Management office (Dept. of Business Admin.) in the rear basement of city hall at 280 Grove St. fill out the form and wait about a month for the reimbursement check. I did, and got paid! Follow link below....... http://www.cityofjerseycity.com/administration.aspx?id=1418

Also, here is the number to report potholes in hudson county: 201-915-1374
Even though it sucks that it happened to you, it's good to report them so hopefully ohters won't suffer the same type of damage.

The first thing you should do is call 201-547-5477 and file a damage report. This is important for two reasons: 1: You will need this for any claims. 2: they can put a cone or some sort of indication to warn motorists. Also, take a picture of the pothole for your records (only if it is safe for you to do this). Where did this happen...a city, state or county owned road? This is important because you will need to file the claim with the risk management department of whoever controls that part of the road.

...not to mention then putting the lawyer handling the disorderly charge on the city payroll...

Never
This public advocates office is on the first floor of city hall. They took my info and said that they would get back to me. My car was damaged by a pothole that was more like a sinkhole. I called and said that I really have no proof. Unless you drive around with a digital recorder on your dashboard going 24/7, it will be hard to prove. I had photos of the damage and pothole including a certified letter from a reputable mechanic attesting to the fact that my damage is consistent with pot-hole damage. Sorry sir, we can't help you. But the pothole was fixed by the end of that day.

Will Jersey City Pay for Pothole Tire Popping?

I hit a nasty pothole last evening, on an unlit street, which popped my tire.
I know that NYC will pay for tires popped by thing like raised manhole covers. Anyone know if Jersey City does the same? Thanks!
