Only 13, 'pusher' wields knife in theft
Tuesday, April 24, 2007 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A 13-year-old Jersey City boy was busted for robbing a 14-year-old at knifepoint and he also faces drug distribution charges after police found bags of pot on him after his arrest Sunday, officials said. The boy was arrested at Claremont and Ocean avenues at 7 p.m. and charged with robbery, weapons offenses and drug offenses, including possession of marijuana, Police Director Sam Jefferson said yesterday. The incident began when the boy rode his bike up to the 14-year-old boy at Arlington and Carteret avenues and said "Give me 10 dollars," reports said. When the victim said no, the robber took out a black-handled knife and again demanded money, reports said. Finally, the victim said he only had $5 and the robber replied, "I'm gonna be nice. Give me the five and I'll be back at 9 o'clock for the other five. If you don't have it, you know what's gonna to happen to you." The victim called police, who broadcast a description of the 13-year-old. The boy was spotted on Claremont Avenue and identified by the victim, reports said. The boy was found carrying five $1 bills, a knife and a bag containing four smaller bags of suspected marijuana, reports said. The 13-year-old was processed at the Jersey City Police Department's Juvenile Unit and taken to the Hudson County Youth House in Secaucus, reports said.
