Much as some Brits think Ireland is part of the UK, I can assure you that West Meath is a county (== State) within the Republic of Ireland, which is a separate country from the UK.

Here it comes...

State regulators on Wednesday approved double-digit rate increases for four gas providers serving millions of customers in the state, with prices expected to rise by hundreds of dollars on an annualized basis for some people.

PSEG, which serves 1.9 million people across the state, was granted a nearly 25% increase, which would amount to a $256.38 a year hike to the "typical" residential bill, according to the state Board of Public Utilities. BPU commissioners also approved a 15.8%, $258.72 annual increase for New Jersey Natural Gas and its 568,000 ratepayers.

I have a property in New England that I am worrying a bit about. The New England power grid with coal and nuclear being phased out is almost completely dependent on natural gas. The pipeline capacity was never expanded to provide enough gas to keep the lights on during cold periods. Blackouts were only avoided by switching over to no. fuel oil (power plants are generally dual fuel) and getting emergency imports of liquefied natural gas from Russia.

Fuel oil stocks are dangerously low due to shipping so much of it to Europe. Russia? Well.. not sure if that LNG shipment will be arriving this season, given the current political situation.

I am looking into a backup generator and one of these to heat the place:

Never thought I would see a manufactured energy crisis like we had back when I was a kid. Odd / Even day policies coming back regulating when you can get gas for your car?

Donald Trump negotiated a deal between the Saudi's and Russia. We paid for that. Donald Trump will be going to jail before December. You're in a cult.

No, perhaps Joe Biden should allow the XL Pipeline to be finished which will bring energy to the US. And Joe Biden should stop selling US energy to China from our reserves.

I checked. There is no legitimate evidence of any of your claims

A lot more people died under Trump and his daughter was granted 18 trademarks from China within one month. His daughter and son in law Jared Kushner were paid like $610 million in consulting fees while working at the WH and getting paid salaries. Jared was paid $2BB from the Saudis and he was also given $6.4 MM in PPP loans, which were forgiven and Trump participated in an agreement between the Saudis and Russia to reduce oil production to benefit the Oil Companies. Trump wasn't JUST A LOUD MOUTH. TRUMP WAS and IS a CRIMINAL. HE ALSO NEGOTIATED A DEAL BETWEEN THE SAUDIS AND RUSSIA TO REDUCE THE PRODUCTION OF OIL TO BENEFIT THE OIL INDUSTRY. He ALSO USED OUR TAX $$$$ TO PAY HIS SON IN LAW AND DAUGHTER $680,000,000 in fees above and beyond their salaries.

Just a reminder, natural gas was cheap under Trump, yes, he was a loudmouth but people could afford to heat their homes. We have hundreds of years of fossil fuels in the US and was energy independent under Trump.

FYI:

Natural gas prices are up over 250% compared to last year. By some forecasts will be up 400%+ by mid-winter. Since NJ has been replacing coal and nuclear with natural gas, the price increases will raise electric rates dramatically as well.

If you have a commercial meter and haven't locked in a rate, you will see the cost increases soon. Residential meters, the increases will be phased in over time.

Last year gas supply rates were running at $0.30 to $0.45 per therm.
