Frinjc.. Do you know anything about construction? What about this tells you that it doesn't absorb sound? Nothing. I agree developers cut cost. Hell I'm an interior designer who works on projects like this for a living and I know developers are cheap(No i dont just pick the pillows) but just bc it's wood doesn't tell you the accustical value.

I'm not arguing the merits of this building but don't just say negatives things to be negative.

Kencares... Those two buildings are not comparable.

The hateraid is strong today.

If you like being waken up by your neighbor sneezing in the middle of the night or even dropping a pen then by all means buy into this place. It looks even worse that the condo building I was living in Hoboken in the early millenium and it took me years to readjust after that one.

parking is the first floor, sunk just a tad below street level. bummer for the neighbors, as it pretty much deadens that whole stretch of block.

also, at a long-ago Harsimus Cove Association meeting, there was talk of a boutique hotel on this block.

I guess condos won the day? there doesn't seem to be any other space for a hotel.

At the very least, keep a development like this, on a street like this, parking-free. It's absurd.

So many parking garages all over downtown. Most of which sit empty and create hideous streetscapes. It's ruining downtown. The high rises are one thing, but on a quiet rowhouse street like this, it is a sin and completely out of character.

It just goes against every trend in every other developing city. I don't understand the fascination with adding parking. It's not sustainable. The streets will be terribly clogged with traffic.

I wouldn't care about parking so much as I care about the lack of retail. Why is an area like that still not zoned for mixed use? If all the ground floor of that unit were dedicated to retail, that could be a small supermarket. Or at least a place that sells something people could use. Not a damn parking garage or an overpriced condo or rental.
