Maybe goose poop makes for an especially fast polo playing surface?

The first thing that came to my mind was - damn they are going to spoil our beautiful park!

The problem I see is that the "lawn" isn't, and would simply never recover from such treatment. This is no irrigated and nurtured polo green! There's barely anything green there as is, little of it actually grass. Whatever they capped the brownfield with was more like rubble than topsoil, and clearly doesn't hold moisture. Hardly anything can grow there, the trees they planted that lived are stunted. It's more like a fragile desert ecosystem than a lawn.

I'm sure this is a good thing for JC; it means lots of well-to-do polo fans discovering our city and our state park, hopefully finding that Jersey City isn't what they thought it was.

...And yet I'm completely annoyed at the thought of a bunch of rich a-holes and their ponies tearing up our lawn. Go back to the Hamptons!

I haven't decided yet if I'm going. It sounds kind of fun. It's an excuse to buy white pants and a seersucker blazer.

Sounds like you have "class envy" you dis them then say you are going to the event and masquerade as one of them.
I don't think any of them are going to be anywhere in JC after the event.

I am reminded of the joke about the man who was supposed to go to Cox's for a seersucker blazer, but got confused and went to Sear's. Thanks for bringing back a chuckle.

You are making too many assumptions. And then after deriding a particular cultural/economic sub set...you leave the possibility of not only attending but buying yourself their particular dress. I am sure after attending the match there must be so many opportunities to wear that outfit. Way to spend. Good luck with that.

At least you are not complaining about horses and ponies. They are some of the coolest animals in my opinion.
