The problem I see is that the "lawn" isn't, and would simply never recover from such treatment. This is no irrigated and nurtured polo green! There's barely anything green there as is, little of it actually grass. Whatever they capped the brownfield with was more like rubble than topsoil, and clearly doesn't hold moisture. Hardly anything can grow there, the trees they planted that lived are stunted. It's more like a fragile desert ecosystem than a lawn.

You are making too many assumptions. And then after deriding a particular cultural/economic sub set...you leave the possibility of not only attending but buying yourself their particular dress. I am sure after attending the match there must be so many opportunities to wear that outfit. Way to spend. Good luck with that.
At least you are not complaining about horses and ponies. They are some of the coolest animals in my opinion.

Just learned that a polo exhibition match sponsored by Veuve Clicquot will take place in Liberty State Park on June 2. It's a full day event with an awards ceremony.
The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic I'm sure this is a good thing for JC; it means lots of well-to-do polo fans discovering our city and our state park, hopefully finding that Jersey City isn't what they thought it was. ...And yet I'm completely annoyed at the thought of a bunch of rich a-holes and their ponies tearing up our lawn. Go back to the Hamptons! I haven't decided yet if I'm going. It sounds kind of fun. It's an excuse to buy white pants and a seersucker blazer.
