I personally don't think that's "bug bucks" money for a dept head, especially. They work well over hrs/week, particularly in division like AC where the public calls in problems 24/7 (as they should).

Back to issue at hand...is anyone else LOL'ing at this new Fulop "submit your application" stunt?? Do we really think anyone who applies seriously has a chance?

The haters don't have a chance. Others - who knows?

And people wonder where their taxes go...

Clearly, if you can't get elected dog catcher, get yourself appointed!

Paul is very approachable and does a great job imo.

More phony baloney masquerading as "transparency" from Fulop.

Does he really think we believe that any of these applicants will get fair review and that he'll pick 1 from that pool? And not for nothing, but there was a capable and still willing candidate who was in the run-off. Not a bad choice at all.

I got two abandoned puppies and a raccoon.

Not gonna happen. You can't hold 2 city positions at the same time & I don't see Bellan-Boyer giving up the big bucks that Animal Control is paying him.

That's really funny that you think a job with Animal Control pays big bucks

But yes, its true that one cannot hold 2 city jobs at once.

I'd be really surprised if a seat went to Ron Greco himself. One of his "lieutenants" would make more sense.

I agree that it is more likely to be someone not mentioned - although I wouldn't rule out Ron Greco, given the mayor's lust for non-stop hot union action.

Dan would be a fine choice but there's no way in hell Fulop would ever name him.

Expect the replacement not to be on anyone's radar. Not much history=less controversy.

JERSEY CITY — What's next for Ward B?

The West Side area is now without a council representative, with Khemraj "Chico" Ramchal resigning today after pleading guilty to charges related to his March 2015 drunken driving arrest.

The City Council has 30 days to appoint someone to take Ramchal's place until voters select his replacement in a November special election. If no appointment is made, the seat remains vacant until that election.

A number of names familiar to voters could succeed Ramchal. Esther Wintner, who ran for and lost the Ward B seat in 2010 and in 2013, said today she'd still like to do the job. Dan Levin, who ran for mayor in 2009 and for the Downtown council seat in 2013, losing both times, now lives in Ward B. He said today he's undecided about running in Ward B.
