I-TEAM INVESTIGATES: DUI Cover-up? Why A Suspected Drunk Driving Cop Was Never Charged

CBS PHILLY - June 25, 2015 11:11 PM

By Charlotte Huffman

ROBBINSVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) — Police dash cam video obtained by the CBS3 I-Team shows what unfolded when an officer with the Robbinsville Township Police Department stopped a Jersey City police officer.

According to police reports, Vincent Corso was pulled over when a RTPD officer said he witnessed Corso speeding “at over 70 miles per hour” in a 55 mile per hour zone with “the driver’s side headlight out” and “crossing over the center white dotted line.”

The traffic stop happened on the night of January 30, 2014 on Route 130 South in Mercer County.

Vincent Corso is a sergeant with Jersey City Police Department.

In the dash cam video, Corso can be heard informing the RTPD officer that he is a sergeant from Jersey City’s force.

The RTPD officer returns to his patrol vehicle and asks dispatch to verify Corso’s employment with JCPD.

Against the RTPD officer’s orders, Corso exits his vehicle several times.

“What are we doing here? … Are we okay here?” Corso asked.

Several officers respond to the scene to assist. One officer can be heard describing Corso as “smashed.”

“If you get in that car right now, I’ll lock you up for DWI. You are so ****** up right now you can’t even speak right,” an RTPD officer told Corso.

I am surprised no one comment on this link. This article states P.O. Curso was involved in DUI in Robbinsville and he was the officer that shot and killed Michael Anglin in 2000. Curso also admitted he was at a bar several hours before the shooting. The city paid out $2.4 million to his family. This is quite serious.

Who was personally selected by Fulop to become Chief of Police.

Because he raised tens of thousands of dollars for the mayor.

It's the delicious irony vis a vis Christie/Bridgegate. You have a Gov accused of orchestrating political payback through the Port Authority, with a complicit staff doing the dirty work. It's investigated, found to be untrue, and not even those truly involved have accused him of knowing the traffic jam was political payback.

And now Fulop is actually accused by his former, hand picked staff member of doing exactly what Christie has been exonerated of-causing traffic jams for political payback, in this case AGAINST the Port Authority, among other politically motivated dirty tricks.

Although you are galaxies away from Yvonne's obsession with Mayor Fulop, I must say you are a strong contender for #2 in terms of how frequently you talk about him, whether the subject at hand is the Mayor or not. Is it because he is a non-Christian heathen, or you just secretly love the guy? You can't use the dementia excuse!

If that?s true, the Mayor poking at it with his finger may not have been a ?best practice? for dealing with the cleanup. Perhaps this unfortunate development may have been avoided through diplomacy.

Where are the commercial truck weigh stations?
Permanent weigh stations are located at:

I-78 EB and WB at mile marker 3.0
I-80 EB 1 mile east of the Pennsylvania State Line
I-287 NB at mile marker 9.0
I-295 NB at Mile Marker 3.6, Carney?s Point

New Jersey also uses portable scales.

Contact Division of State Police, Commercial Vehicle Inspection: 609.452.2601 Extension 5923.

The Jersey City Police Department does not have the authority to pull them over to test their weight. If they did, then the JJ article would not be a story.

I agree trucks should be inspected and weighted but O'Dea's comments are part of the public record before the incident of Global Container. O'Dea wanted the Hudson County Sheriffs to have that authority because he believes trucks have too much tonnage which contributes to the destruction of our streets.

Sorry, ...bike, I believe there is truth in Cowan's statement.

I think you have this all confused. I am well aware of trucks being pulled over and weighed - For your information we do have permanent weighbridges in NJ just for that purpose and we also mobile weigh devices, whereby trucks roll on mobile pads and are weighed - ALL trucks are subject to a tare weight and if over, makes the trucks unsafe and extremely dangerous.

Here is the story from the JJ on the trucks being stopped. Again, this is illegal in NJ according to Freeholder O'Dea. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... d_to_traffic_backups.html

Disgruntled employee (Former Jersey City Police Chief Robert ?Bubba? Cowan) will end up bankrupt or in debt up to his eyeballs - Bubba is really the only one making the allegation or some sort of conspiracy that didn't even eventuate.

Christie's bridgegate did eventuate and wasn't an allegation made by a sole person. The State and Local bodies deemed that there were grounds for a serious investigation. Whether or not you agree or disagree with the outcome is another chapter.

'Time for some traffic problems at the Holland Tunnel AND Global Container'.

We'll see if Fulop is exonerated-and if he is, then he's still guilty of encouraging that culture in his staff.

Er, at least that's what many say about Christie!
