Jersey City gets $2.25M Bloomberg grant to revitalize main street districtsBy Brian Platt has been named director of Jersey City's new Innovation Team, a program funded through a three-year, $2.25 million grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Jersey City was one of 12 cities in the United States selected in December 2014 to take part in the program. Will this actually fund the specific activities ?
In-house consultants in city halls sounds hauntingly vague. Hopefully its not just wasted on consultants and power point presentations.

Without getting into too much detail, I will say that I have done quite a bit of work at the Bloomberg Philanthropies headquarters and those people live and breathe a very altruistic goal of figuring out ways to spend his money in improving or addressing social problems. Regardless of what people may think of his politics, stances, or way to do things, the guy is genuinely interested and focused on ways to spend his fortune in meaningful ways with long lasting results. For that, I do admire him.
I am glad Jersey City is getting this money. Hopefully, something good will come out of it.
