Bullies is not the word I would have used - what about assault and attempted cruelty to animals.

What's the bet the two boy's parents will not have to pay for the medical bills if they are caught - they will be local kids.

What is sad is as a society, we are more accountable for owning a dog then our kids.

We have to pick-up after our dog, leash our dog, register our dog, be accountable if they bark too much or have a smelly yard (not cleaning the poop) and if they bite - All these failures will cost you a citation or distruction of your dog, yet young 'johnny' can graffiti, vandualize and commit any anti-social behavior at no cost to their parents!

Definitely they should arrest these little sociopaths on assault charges (pellet gun has to count as a weapon-especially in NJ!) when and if they catch them. I think that the girl's dog should be allowed to bite these little freaks.

We should put these two down before they become a burden on the system- or at least make them join the Marines when they turn 18.

At least we know of one little girl who is being raised right.

wow sounds like two sociopaths in the making..... too bad they won't get stopped until they've upgraded from pellets to bullets and from animals to people.

A 13-year-old Jersey City girl was shot in the leg with a pellet gun as she tried to protect her dog from two boys who walked up and said they wanted to shoot the pet, officials said yesterday.

On Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the Van Houton Avenue girl was near her home when she was approached by the two boys ages 13 to 15, reports said.

The girl stood in front of her pet to shield it and one of the boys fired the pellet gun numerous times, striking her once on the right leg, reports said.

The two boys fled east on Van Houton and the girl ran home and called police, who said she had an entry wound just below her right knee, reports said, adding that a family member told police she would drive the girl to Christ Hospital.

The victim said one of the boys was about 5-foot-6 and the other was 5-4 or 5-5, reports said, adding that both have a thin build and were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, gray sweatpants and basketball sneakers.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
