Yeah, they put up with it, but then they take it out on themselves with their "crappy is good enough" low standards and calling out people who actually try to make things right. So Blumpkin, it's ok with you that the son put his mother at risk with his illegal activity in her home and wouldn't respect her decision that he needed to move out because of it? But she's a rat. Bass ackwards, dude.

The "don't rat" thing has gone way too far, in general, and this is a good example. You don't rat on your own WHAT? As his mother, it had to be hard, even if he is a sex offender and lazy/inept thief. She's got his stolen City property in the house. Who knows what else she was putting up with day to day? She's fed up and tries to set some healthy boundaries, gives him the chance to take his BS elsewhere. But no. What social rule says you have to take the heat for someone's way risky, illegal idiocy? (Caveat emptor: I don't know these people. This is just how it looks to me.)

Sex offenders, sure. They are committing actual evil. But all criminals? What about consumption of weed?

I'd rat on a sex offender. I'd rat on any criminal on my block for that matter.

This guy lives 2 houses down from me and is a registered sex offender. Despite that he seems pretty harmless (unless you are a teenage girl, maybe).

Jersey City mom turns in 36-year-old son for having parking meter in his closet, cops say
By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal January 03, 2010, 5:30PM Thomas Gaughran, 36, of Jersey City, was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing a city parking meter, which he never could open to remove the coins. A 36-year-old Jersey City Heights man was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after his mother found a parking meter stashed in his bedroom closet yesterday, police said. Thomas Gaughran, 36, of Beach Street near Liberty Avenue was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after police responded to his home on a domestic violence call but found a parking meter at 7 p.m., officials said. The mother told cops she found the Jersey City Police Department coin operated parking meter cleaning out his closet Saturday, police spokesman Edgar Martinez said. She told her son to get out of the house. But he refused and they argued, so she called police, Martinez said. Gaughran told investigators he removed the meter from near Graham Street and Central Avenue four months ago. Apparently he was never able to remove the coins from the meter, which had extensive damage to the upper metal casing and lower base, Martinez said. Reached by phone today, Gaughran's mother refused to comment. The parking meter is valued at $600 but the amount of money it contained has not been determined, police said.
