Re: Thanks, Jersey City Heights

Been a while since I posted but I do read this often.... I'm in the heights also, the slope. I planted 2 trees in front of my home and the garbage does pile up. Like clockwork, everyday before work and after work I start my litter patrol and clean up. I must add that I have witnessed the trash nightly pickup collected recklessly on several occasions contributing to the problem. And yes I have called public works to complain about it.

I would recommend that you take a look in the Heights. More specifically, the Western Slope area. Closer to JSQ. Check out Liberty Avenue to Summit Avenue and from Spruce Street to Lincoln Street. You can even dip down to Western Ave a bit?. Its all bout a 10-15 minute walk to JSQ PATH?I bought several homes as an investment 4 years ago and they are doing great. My home values have increased as well as the tenant quality. As I go jogging around the neighborhood with my dog, I am witnessing the neighborhood change for the better. As more people come in to purchase homes and rid absentee landlords the care and pride start to revive the blocks. Renovations, New Construction, better looking front yards. Kids playing on the sidewalks? Are there still shit sandwiches here and there, sure there are. But that can be anywhere. Eventually that goes too; with the proper procedures and tactics. The area is safe. I go running all hours of the day or night and I see other people running too. The only thing i can say we are lacking is a real supermaket. But thanks to my 2 car garage, i am able to drive where i need to go and not be concerned if i will find valid parking.... Good Luck!!

I don't know why you would say NOT the heights. The gentrification process has been in motion since I moved here 4 years ago from Brooklyn. I bunkered down in the Western Slopeof the Heights and at least a dozen friends sold in Brooklyn $$$ and followed here buying on the low prices with future upswing. And with plenty of development, renovations and new friendly faces. I have all good things to say about JC. My caveat is shit can happen anywhere at any time.

Until YOU are the one thats responding to a 911 call of a robbery in progress or a rape or notifying a mother that her daughter has just been killed in a car accident, or a maniac at the mall shooting up the place, or a Fireman responding to a fire and entering an inferno to save people, or a Teacher doing her best to teach some wild kids day in and day out... I say YES! Those FINE FOLKS! .....
There is always a route to bring attention to a problem cop. Sure there are some in the public sector that shouldnt be there. That i agree with. But I dont paint a profession with a broad brush.
So put a stop to being a bullied victim your enitre life and man up. Unless your deserving of the attention from law enforcement. Then thats a different story.

Anyone who responds to the crap that 95% of society doesnt want to or cant deal with or scared to deal with can excersize whenever and wherever they want in my book!

You know I won't do that. Police routinely get away with massive abuses for smaller reasons than not being able to take an insult. Mindless defenders such as yourself are one of society's biggest problems.

All Im saying is approach the fine folks doing excercises that are staying fit to maybe one day putting their lives on the line to save your ass that they are being a tad too loud. Dont be a victim you entire life.

When I was shopping for countertops for my place and my rentals I went back to Brooklyn. I use L & T Modern Kitchens. No complaints. Best prices, installation time and selections. HD and Loews were charging more than double. Good busnesses rate my recomendations. Their website is not the greatest but the trip to Brooklyn is.

This is Good news for Jersey City.... Get a Police Chief that gets back to the foundation of policing. Foot patrols making a clean sweep of the City. Problem areas get more attention. Every and any infraction/ violation gets full attention and enforcement, anywhere and everywhere. There is too much lazyness from some cops. Make the all accountable!!!! Address the small crimes and it will lead to cleaning up the big crimes. NYC did it. We can do it. Put another Marine in charge!.... also i would like to add that the police department must work with the community it serves to make it all work....

It all depends on what you paid for the building, income coming in and expenses going out. Seperate heating? parking? 1/2/3/ bedrooms? New electrical? Plenty of variables to determine that. If it was a fair deal, then you would do well in the coming years. imho.

Look into buying a 2 family home. it will cut your costs more than half. Rent a nice apartment for reasonable rent and its less out of your pocket. Win-Win! You may also find a place with a garage and a backyard.

Spend some time on the computer and do some homework... find 2 more houses like your neighbors and then go file your tax appeal. Having 3 comparable homes in your area should bring down your tax bill... or hire a local business that knows what to look for.. Good Luck!
I brought my property down from $15,600 to $9400

I have made plenty of Complaints also. At times it seems to get better, then there are times of total disregard. I would love to start a 9000w generator every 30 minutes in front of the pilots house :)
Maybe the complaints are doing something, maybe doing nothing. But for sure, when the next helicopter goes down in the area and there are fatalities, how will they explain all the low flying complaints and all the no action to the complaints. Lots of liabilty.

It has happened plenty of times in the past. Recently I have called to make a complaint due to them missing my paper pickups 2 weeks in a row. They will come later in the day though to pick up but its just aggravating. Also, a couple of houses down had bottles broken all over the street. They came down and cleaned that up after a few calls.
I pay 10k in annual property taxes. I do expect sanitation to get it right and keep our streets clean.... and on the flip side.... issue tickets to homeowners who dont care about upkeep.

St. Peters Cemetary is right across fom me in the Heights Western Slope. Actually its on the right on 1/9 North (Tonnelle Ave) 200 feet before the ramp to the Skyway... My son and I go there occasionally and do a quick clean up...... I have never seen visitors there. Its a quaint site and very old.

There are times when these helicopters fly so low, you can feel the vibrations....At all hours! Im all about business and I would not have an issue with it but they should be doing it at a responsible height with the least effect to the communities they fly over. I called Kearny Heliport several times to make a formal complaint with their Chief Aviation Officer and it did not get resolved. He said that some of these pilots fly low to give their passengers a good show for a better tip! and they divert from their pattern or altitude to save on fuel. He actually said that!!! He also said that there a quite a few helicopter companies at that location and tracking may be difficult. Bullshit... I called the FAA to complain. The guy says he is on it but there needs to be a stonger voice so it can be legislated for the to fly at a higher and safe altitude. I have plenty of video footage of these choppers buzzing so LOW! There is a facebook page on the JC helicopters. Also an online petition. http://www.change.org/petitions/stop- ... es-over-the-nj-gold-coast

My Union (Iron Workers), good ol Marine Corps buddies and some old Brooklyn neighborhood friends would just love to have a BBQ in your backyard! Sometimes those kind of "neighbors" just need to know it can get a little difficult for them also.... but the advise/comments you recieved are on the money.... but just in case my offer stands. It will be fun.

Formation runs around JC??? Yelling and cadence calling?? a bunch of cops?? If any winers cant take it, send them up to the Heights!! Some folks act like its a violent mob causing destruction and mayhem along their path. Im sure its quite the opposite. The JC streets probably tightend up and cleaned up, even a little bit, as the steamrolled by..... You wear a uniform, you get my respect until otherwise......AND you can Call them what you want, but I bet you wont say that to their face. Anyone can be a tough girl behind a computer. Cowards usually are.

Re: cars tagged on 9th st

On my dead end street, several parked cars were tagged on several occasions. Whatever color spray paint was used. This guy sprayed lines and circles all around these parked cars. Probably 15-20 cars in total on 5 or 6 occasions. This all happened around 4 am. The final time he did it i was able to get a clear image of his face.(Yes. I have cameras on my property)... It was pretty much over for him. This guy, white middle aged man, lived right up the street!!!! Instead of gathering a mob and getting some street justice I called JCPD. Spoke to them, they viewed the video, got a copy of the CD, and we then walked right over to the TURDS house, knocked on the door and when he opened, I said yes Officer, that is him. Off to jail he went along with restitution for all his victims. He became so afraid knowing that people know knew it was him. Turd did move shortly, after 20 years of him living in this Great Heights neighborhood. His reason for spray painting the cars..... I had no place to park my car so Iand wanted to create parking.... NOT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!!!

That SUCks! Some folks just dont care...It should have been towed after the first ticket. Call the Police and JCPA. I believe it should not matter its on the street if its blocking the flow of your driveway. Call a local towing company. They should know also.... Final step( if necessary) Get a car jack, lift the car and push it wherever you like.

Would you like some cheese with that whine??? Did he write you summonse?? ....Let the cop do his job!! Some people drive like they made up their own rule book!!!Some folks can not deal with the way the police have to do their job at times. Im sure its not pretty and we can all monday morning quarterback on how it should have been done... But guess what... im not a COP! I dont do their job. I f he screws up then he will have to take his lumps... I hope there to 10 more police cars on the Blvd doing that work. Deny it if you want but police presence or just the thought of police presence deters crime, traffic violations and supports the quality of life.... Im all for it.
