Weird, I clearly remember voting for some council candidates and not others. How did Fulop manage to pick the winners?

You better stay away from those guys, they are illegal aliens, and caused trouble with the North District police department.

I do not know how long the doctor has been there but behind Duane Reed was a parking lot that the public used for years. It is no longer there due to development.

There is now a parking deck that is available.

By Yvonne's standards, that parking deck is TOO FAR. She thinks that parking should be available DIRECTLY in front of her destination, and that it should be free.

Now I have people speaking for me. I am just stating a fact where it was located. It was obvious this doctor's patients used his services and found the parking situation OK.

So why are you using his office as a reason to be against the pedestrian plaza?

That's outside the boundary of the pedestrian plaza. Please remind me what your point is.

Even if the park isn't badly affected, does it really make sense for local streets to be a highway bypass by design? Marin is bad enough already. We should be fighting against having even more cars passing through local neighborhoods.

Wrong on the first account. I am the furthest from a B-L resident. I do think it's comical that downtown residents see this bridge as a one way super freeway to their beloved, quiet and traffic-free neighborhoods and not as a two-way mutually beneficial logical roadway connection to one of the most prized open spaces in all of Hudson County.

As for your traffic theory, yes, I agree and it is likely to happen. However, this scenario is not the life changing shortcut that will attract the masses that you're predicting. Anyone looking to shortcut the Holland Tunnel traffic is getting off on a legit exit ramp that is the Columbus BLVD exit.

You clearly don't go down that way very often. There are a LOT of people that come up from the Bayonne Bridge that would benefit from this. Check out the traffic by Caven Point some day and tell me everyone uses the Columbus exit.

If only half of your apartment went out during a legitimate outage, you should really have an electrician by some time to see why all of your circuits aren't connected to one central breaker. It could literally save your life some day.

That's what my and my husband were discussing during the outage. Is it normal to have an apartment/building (our neighbors have the same issue) wired from two different outside lines/grids?

Just to be clear - it appears that the half of the apartment that lost power wasn't completely out - when we turn on the light switch, we could see that the light is on, just very dim (barely can see the light). So, it would *appear* that half the circuit has full power (everything working as normal), while the other half has very weak power (enough to have dim lights, but not enough to power a TV, for example).

BTW, power is back! and AC is back! Yay!

In that case, it's probably fine. Power feeds are composed of two hot 120v lines and a neutral/ground as a return. If the power company loses one line, you'll see a situation like that. Turn off your main breaker some time and make sure everything goes out instead of hiring someone.

? 296-80. - Operation of a Sidewalk Caf?; Projection into sidewalks. [Amended 7-20-2011 by Ord. No. 11-076]

B. No sidewalk caf? shall be permitted to project into a sidewalk more than half the width of said sidewalk, but only to a maximum of ten (10) feet. In no case shall it extend so far as to leave less than six (6) feet for pedestrian traffic.

You can try your luck with RRC, or you can call the Division of Commerce at (201) 547-5139. Paul O'Grady is very helpful.

While you're on the phone, put in a complaint against Abbey's for me. Thanks!

It would certainly be nice if everyone was rich enough to be able to freely pick and choose where they want to live, especially in a very tight housing market. But oh well.

The church bells at 6th and Monmouth are electronic and were installed a few years ago. I'm not sure how they are "historic". They were ringing at 8:30 AM this weekend so I'm also not sure when they aren't allowed to ring.

Also, if you're going to dedicate some time to writing a rant about something you care about, basic literacy is a useful skill to help you communicate with others.

Blame the landlord. He has to stick his fingers into every single project that opens there. That neighborhood deserves far better.

Re: Buying "Hold" Properties in JC Ghetto

If those properties had original bathrooms (and they might not have), they weren't in rooms with fireplaces. I've been in a number of the houses on Astor and if there's a fireplace in the bathroom, it's because somebody decided to put a bathroom in a creative place during a gut reno.

And those fireplaces were built for burning coal, not wood. If you start a wood fire in those you're going to have a bad day.

I never called JC Balcer Town, but it has a nice ring. If it was Balcer Town, there would be no abatements and United Water would be gone and the money returned to ratepayers.

And the suicide rate would be the highest in the nation!
