The proposed building is a monstrosity that CLEARLY doesn't belong in this neighborhood in the Heights. You want tall buildings? Take them to Newport, Journal Square, etc. They need to get their greedy hands out of the Heights.

Oh well, maybe victories like this one will help people realize how important it is to pay and take part. Unions aren't going anywhere.

Try to squash unions, you're only going to make them roar louder. Look at the recent momentum in West Virginia, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, and maybe now JC. JANUS--whichever way it is decided--will be an opportunity to reinvigorate the grassroot bases. Don't count anyone out.

Since 2006 until 2017, the nation's wages have not gone up, education is not the exception. People depended on Social Security have not have an increase. People depended on interests from banks have seen income go down. I watched an interview after Nancy Pelosi said the $1,000 bonus were crumbs. The person they interviewed in a diner said he did not have an increase since 2008 and was lucky to have a job. I will repeat it again, one third of Jersey City do not pay school taxes. The school unions should fight against this. The new tax abatement program gives 10% to the schools but that is future abatements. The old agreements will continue to give nothing but their children still goes to the school system.

Yvonne, don't just spout fake facts. Since 2006, wages have increased 14%. Check your facts. https://www.payscale.com/payscale-index/

Trying to put the word out that on Sunday night into Monday, my car was broken into (passenger side window smashed) on Bright St., and across the street a vehicle had all 4 tires stolen and it was left up on blocks. If anyone local (Bright St. between Varick and Monmouth) may have outdoor security cameras, could you please let me know? Happened mid-block, same side as PS3 and 4, closer to corner of Monmouth and Bright. Thanks

Wondering if anything has ever come of Candice Osbourne's flooding survey/study. We are in the vicinity of Monmouth and Bright and still experience sewage backing up and flooding into our basement 2-3 times a year.

I miss *the original* HARD GROVE, in the Dominic Santana days. Cannot believe that space will now house a PNC Bank branch. So pathetic.
Also miss Newport Pancake House...Brownstone?s predecessor. None of the waitresses had a full set of teeth.

I believe those are for a building/structure that's going up on Cornelison Ave., at the base of the Beacon complex. I saw them and thought the same thing, until I passed this new structure and saw the exact pre-fab slabs piled one on top of the other in the form of a possible parking structure (?). If you want to see, it's at the corner of Bright and Cornelison.

It's all a scam! How about the shady way they have of letting you know you're going to be inspected (taping a xeroxed/hardly legible notice on the door a day before....).

Re: Excessive United Water Bill

My building had problems with United Water J.C....we were suddenly slapped with a huge bill (I mean HUGE) and were given some crazy explanation about our meter being broken....we never could get to the bottom of it and NO ONE would accept responsibility or accountability at UWJC for providing us with an answer. We were in the situation that if we did not pay our water was going to be shut off, so we paid and no one has ever answered our questions. We tried contacting the NJ Bureau of Public Utilities and they were no help at all, only referring us back to UWJC.

I think as a community we need to keep our eyes/ears open for similar stories because one never knows what could be behind something like this....

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
