Re: Several local politicians arrested on corruption charges

Anyone see the protest outside Cammarano? s house today on the news? Why aren?t we in Jersey City doing the same thing in front of Healy and the City Council?

Defendant Shaw explained that defendant Beldini was ?very happy? with that meeting, but that she and JC Official 4?s ?problem? was that they could not ?take cash.? [b]Defendant Shaw suggested that the CW give defendant
Cheatam and defendant Shaw $5,000 each, and that defendant Cheatam and defendant Shaw would then [b]provide contribution checks to defendant Beldini and JC Official 4 totaling $10,000.

at a diner in Jersey City, defendant Cheatam and
defendant Shaw accepted $10,000 in cash each from the CW, including $5,000 a piece to ?convert? into contributions for JC Official 4

Defendant Beldini acknowledged the receipt of the $10,000 and explained that ?[w]hat we?re trying to do is put money into different funds so we can, when we need it, funnel it back into [JC Official 4's election fund]. Which everybody does.? Defendant Beldini added that she was the treasurer for JC Official 4?s reelection campaign and noted that ?I think it?s a max of 2,600 per person.? The CW responded ?ut we don?t have a problem with that,? prompting defendant Beldini to reply, ?I know.? The CW then clarified that ?I go through [defendant Shaw
and defendant Cheatam] with the cash, and they do whatever they got to do with you and [JC Official 4].? The CW expressed the CW?s understanding that[b] the first $10,000 would go to a Jersey City political committee and that the next $10,000 would go to JC Official 4's election fund, to which defendant Beldini replied, ?Perfect.?

Need I go on HEALY?

Defendant Shaw agreed that defendant Shaw could help

Defendant Cheatam further explained, in substance, that depending on the outcome of the Jersey City mayoral election, incumbent JC Official 4 or a specific opponent of JC Official 4 would be important for the CW
to work with in Jersey City.

JC Official 4= Healy
Oppent of JC Official 4 = Manzo is the most probability

Leona Beldini, the Jersey City deputy mayor and a campaign treasurer, charged with taking $20,000 in conduit campaign contributions and other self-dealing in her official capacity

One wonders where Healy pulled off that $3 million campaign for reelection..

The Problem with Cops are the way the come off to the citizens of the city.. They?re out there ticketing ppl for offence they commit freely and unquestioned. Speeding, running a red light when they aren?t responding with Lights and Sirens on and the biggest crime they commit is talking on the cell driving around.

This is what the citizens of this city sees when they see a police officer, how are they to respect them if they themselves have no respect for the law they are sworn to enforce?

Why is the suit filed in Middlesex? If the crime took place in J City, Shouldn't it have been filed at Hudson Superior Court?

I'm surprised BK hasn?t called the PD to end this as of yet.. I'm pretty Cops can charge someone with a Disorderly, or even causing a scene..

I know its one thing to call the JCPD and have them take half hour or so to show up, but good god, this has been ongoing since 9:30 in morning..

Jersey City cops on the lookout for officer apparently involved in domestic dispute
by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
Friday July 03, 2009, 2:42 PM

Jersey City cops are trying to track down a city police officer who was apparently involved in a domestic incident before leaving the scene in a private car, according to radio transmissions.

Police are trying to locate the officer, who is said to be carrying his service weapon, and they are keeping an eye out for his vehicle, radio transmissions said.

Officers have been told to bring the officer, who was not identified, to any police station other than the South District, where the other individual involved in the domestic incident was apparently brought.

Police Chief Tom Comey said he had no comment on the matter at this time.

High-price call girl ring smashed in Jersey City, cops say

by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
Wednesday July 01, 2009, 7:53 PM

Police have charged a Jersey City Heights man with running a high-price call girl ring, in which he offered clients cocaine and charged up to $3,500 an hour for the services of one of the 40 scantily clad models pictured on his Web site, officials said.

Joseph Ruis, 43, of Leonard Street at Summit Avenue, was arrested late Tuesday and charged with promoting prostitution, being the leader of a narcotics distribution network, and money laundering, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said yesterday. The business took in about $250,000 per month before it was shut down, DeFazio said.

......

Ruis recently opened the Kebab House restaurant at Newark and Washington streets in Hoboken, officials said. Yesterday there was a sign in the window of the Kebab House saying the restaurant was temporarily closed.
