No, the runoff has to be eliminated separately. Fulop admin chose not to try.

FYI that block is outside the area where chain stores are restricted. It is one block outside the zone.

The ratio is the % of FMV the assessment represents, and is adjusted yearly.

Tax year starts in January. The reval company said it expects to send new assessments ~Thanksgiving, then there will be an appeal process. Homeowners are probably not going to see the effect until the second two quarters of 2018.

Appraisal Systems (Fulop hired for Reval) caused Maplewood property owner's property taxes to rise 111 percent from $7,100 to $15,000 in 18 months with bogus claims of non existent improvements and features.

And that property owner is a former Fulop aide who, last I know, worked at the JCRA.

So LSC is 'raising' 78 million that will have to be repaid-that's a loan, right?

Where is that money coming from? Branded coffee mugs in the gift shop? LSC tshirts sold online? I'm sure the parking fees they collect now go to operating expenses, so added parking won't help.

It was not explained to me the way Donnelly explained it. The city told me, after speaking with the LSC CEO, that LSC is going to tap into its donor base for the $78M they believe it will take to get the project off the ground. The way they see it, they are diverting that $78M from LSC, so once SciTech Scity is built and starts making money, SciTech Scity, which will have profit-generating features like a hotel, is going to "pay back" LSC the $78M.

FYI: the mayor is going to announce tonight increased police patrols for the plaza.

Don't have the speech yet, but the press release announcing it listed what he plans to touch on and it includes this:

"Increased police patrols for the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Mall, taking an aggressive approach to ensure that this area remains family friendly."

Gotcha. I was having trouble parsing that with Two Boots complaining about $200/yr.

Does that mean there are roughly 300 businesses in the HDSID and they would all have to contribute to this fund even if they're all the way down at Newark and 3rd or York and Grove and not open during these hours?

I may have to revise to make more clear. The entire SID would pay, so each of its ~300 businesses would see an additional $200 cost to pay for the roughly $60,000 annual cost for the two cops.

That said, the $3000 number quoted in the article makes no sense to me. If we just consider "warmer months" to be May - September we're talking about 60 working days and 2 officers per day.

Are we expected to believe that these off-duty cops are going to work 5-6 hour shifts for $25?

Should have been "nearly $2,500," so I've changed to that.

The SID is assuming two officers three days a week, working about 6 hours each at $65 an hour. That's $2,340 for the week. They think 26 weeks tops.

He stepped down as CEO. The group protesting Saturday says what he's done isn't enough. This is from Politico:

Kushner will divest from all common stock and over 35 other investments, his attorney said, including: all foreign investments; Thrive Capital, a venture capital fund co-founded by his younger brother, Josh; and his interests in the company?s crown jewel property, 666 Fifth Avenue, where Kushner keeps his corner office. Gorelick said the divestments will be carried out through sales at fair-market value.

Those assets will be sold in part to a trust of which Jared Kushner?s mother, Seryl, is the trustee ? but in which he will not be a beneficiary or a contingent beneficiary, his attorney said. Other assets will be sold to his brother, Josh, and to third parties
