Election Signs are an Eye Sore
Home away from home
Home away from home

The elections are over can the signs come down. Then again those folks that still have the elections signs on their house which are very much an eye sore, are the same folks that voted for our eye sore of a Mayor. No wonder he won, just look at the supporters he has, they can't even take the signs down off their houses. If only the people of Jersey City would have woke up and realize all they did was vote for higher taxes and more crime. Where are the police walking the beat as promised?????

I guess the gun buy back program must be working great...There is too much violence in Jersey City..Healy and the Administration need to get Goddamn serious on the crime issues in our city. You wanted to be reelected, you want the job of being Mayor....Now do the job you promised...You promised more police on the streets...Where are they? He has made this promise in every election and the stupid people of Jersey City vote him in...Well let's make him keep his promise..Can we recall him if he doesn't do the job he promised. Perhaps all his signs that are still up can shield us from bullets.

Good to see Healy and Comey have crime under control. Thank God Healy got elected again...4 more years of Healy and Comey telling us how well they are tackling the crime issue. Is it 2013 yet so we can vote Fulop in.

Healy did kick ass and the next 4 years he is the Mayor of Jersey City, nothing we can do about than that now. Jersey City had the chance to make a change..We didn't.

So $3million dollars later, around 16,600 thousand votes @ approximately $180.722 per vote, winning the election...priceless - I guess money can buy you love, or in this case the election. It was kind of funny to read one of the articles in the newspaper that mentioned the strategy the Healy Team had for the election...I guess a $3 million war chest goes a long way, along with very low voter turnout not sure how much strategy you need there....yes we do have to give him the credit for raising that kind of cash, whether we like it or not.

We can only hope the Mayor and his administration work as hard at doing their jobs as the did to win the election.

Two of the major concerns we really hope gets addressed crime and taxes...Though with regards to taxes, I think down the road people will be furious, sooner or later there is going to be a large tax increase and the citizens of Jersey City will be furious at Healy...There does not seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel regarding taxes as we don't have something like the Honeywell settlement coming in and they will need to get money somewhere. A word to those that did not vote, you have no say when whacked with the tax increase.

Hopefully these 4 years go by fast and we get a guy like Steve Fulop as Mayor that would finally be a change in City Hall rather than business as usual in Jersey City.

In the meantime it will be up to us citizens to do everything in our power to make the Mayor and the Administration work for us and be accountable.

I still believe Jersey City has a good future ahead, while there might not be much we can do about the taxes, we can only hope something can be done about Crime, that at least would help with Jersey City's future.

Well at least our mailboxes will be freed up since we won't be receiving anymore election literature..

Elvis, no matter who wins, it's time to have a movement in Jersey City to make sure the Mayor and his administration do a good job. I believe what Dan has done has started to set this movement in the right direction, now it needs to continue. Jersey City can and will be a world class city if we the citizens hold the administration accountable, get involved and help them do their job. We have a great Waterfront, the Heights use to be a great place to live using those two areas as examples...The Heights can easily make a comeback...We have Journal Square that can be rebuilt. At one time Monticello Ave was thriving section. This can be done from the Waterfront to the inner Jersey City. One Jersey City.

Why would you worry about the Healy signs, he has 3 million dollars worth of signs, he can just easily replace them. Hell they have been posted on vacant lots and just about every place imaginable they are not suppose to be posting. I'm surprised not to see City Hall, you know Healy's playground covered with his signs.

Hey Elvis, so how much is Healy paying you and his goons, we could sure use that money to put more police on the street..HMMM isn't that a campaign promise your boy Healy made last campaign and again this time. Perhaps Healy should take a picture with an Elvis impersonator and show that Elvis endorsed him like he did with the Obama photo and video.

Elvis, you need to get a life....I'm up early this morning to cast my vote and then get to work...the last thing I wanted to see was this type off bullshit....this is not a smear.

I can't help you live in your narrow minded world...get outside and see what is really going on. I mentioned before, I don't personally hate Healy, just the poor overall job he has done as Mayor. If worked as hard at being Mayor as he does campaigning he might have done a good job.

Laws on where you can campaign during the election?
Home away from home
Home away from home

This morning after I voted in Ward C, I am waiting on the corner for the 87 bus of Franklin and Hancock, there was a young man handing out literature, a car pulls up, black sedan, looks like a city workers car and 3 guys get out of the car with Healy shirts on and tell the young man to stop handing out literature since it was not Healy literature or he will be arrested.
The bus was down the block, so since I still had a few moments, I step over by these goons and say them real nice with you intimidation shit, its 3 of you on one guy and it's bullshit that he can be arrested for handing literature and these goons tell me to mind my business.
I got in one of their faces and told them it is my business and seems your not so tough when be confronted and they walked back to their car yelling back at me as the bus was approaching to get on the bus or something might happen to me.
I wish I had at least another 10 minutes but had to get to work for a client meeting as I would have loved to have run after these goons as they were going back to their car. I happen to be born and raised in Jersey City and I have no fear with goons like these. Healy's people at their best.

If Fulop votes yes on tax abatements for the Beacon, Canco, and Journal Square; and voted NO on Newport then Healy is robbing the bank and Fulop is trying to stop Catrillo from joining the robbers.

You got to laugh how Healy tool a photo opp with Obama and now associates with his as if Obama actually endorsed him. Healy is pathaetic, between all Healy's literature and that truck with an edited version of that video again making it seem like Obama endorsed him. Can't Healy stand on his own or on his record.

Voters can print out the absentee ballot application from the state Division of Elections Web site. In Hudson County, it would be returned to County Clerk Barbara Netchert, 583 Newark Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07306.

http://www.state.nj.us/state/election ... ee_ballot-eng-7.18.07.pdf

I also saw a post that mentions you can go to the County Clerk's office and fill out an application there and get an absentee ballot on the spot.

Then you can fill your ballot out and walk it over to the Board of Elections' office at 595 Newark Ave. It's basically right next door to the Court House where the County Clerk's office is located.

Hope this helps.

VOTE TODAY!!! USE YOUR POWER!!!!!
Home away from home
Home away from home

Voting is powerful! Voting is responsible! Voting is a privilege! Use your privilege, be responsible, and be POWERFUL!

To vote is a way to exhibit one's patriotism and devotion, as well as to support the country, or in our case support our city through tougher times. In short, to be a patriot and devoted means to remain loyal to one's country, state or city and given the fight that was fought in the past to secure us that right, it seems only "right" that we exercise it when we can. To in the end, represent.

Re: The Heights Team Advertisment in the Jersey Journal

Elvis, you have no idea how I wish I was wrong...Jersey City does have a real chance to be a great city. Hell I know there are no perfect politicians...but yo got to admit, this administration sure does not give the feeling they have the best interest of the Citizens of Jersey City at hand. I have spent time going to the debates of the Mayor and Councilman, there are a few of them that seem much more decent than the elected officials we have currently in office.

No matter what, we need a change, though does not look all that likely. So then the only other thing to do will be for the citizens of Jersey City to rise up and hold whomever becomes the next administration accountable.

This is the first time in many years that the people of Jersey City really seem to be fed up and are not totally buying into things such as crime is down and the high tax issue. These were campaign promises made the last time..What's the saying fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Once the next administration is in, we the people of Jersey City must make sure we are heard and voice the same we we are while they are in office...not just at election time...

We will need the administration work for us and I believe we can accomplish this by putting the administration on notice that no more will we accept business as usual from them. They either do a good job otherwise we point them out an make sure they become part of the news on a regular basis and point out there poor performance in the newspapers, on boards such as these and on local news stations. We cannot not let them hide anymore...Time to pressure our elected officals into doing a good job.

The Heights Team Advertisment in the Jersey Journal
Home away from home
Home away from home

Please tell me this is a joke. As I read the full page ad it says:
Putting more cops on the beat. Where? I don't see any cops on the beat on Central Ave, Palisades or Summit Ave up the Heights..In fact go by the Police Station on Central Ave, not only are there no Cops on the beat, there are between 10-15 patrol cars parked in front of the station, shouldn't they be out patrolling.

Redeveloping Beyond the Waterfront. Where? Central Ave a main avenue up the Heights has not had much redevelopment if any in years, most of the nice stores moved out. Unless they mean in the ad the 99 cent stores, there are a lot of them...Wow some redevelopment.

We have much bad element up the heights, Gangs roaming around, Drugs being sold...Years ago we did not have these problems up the Heights, it was one of, if not the best place to live in Jersey City, and to think Healy, Gaughan, DeGise are from the Heights....Some team they make...

How about other sections of Jersey City, Ward F for instance...They have practically been ignored under the Healy Administration.

Healy Administration, Weak on Crime. A joke as our elected officials. This Administration, our leaders to represent us do not look out for the citizens of Jersey City's public interest. It will just more of the same if they are elected again.

Terri, are you saying the Mayor should not be accountable for the crime problem. It is the job of the Mayor to provide citizens with public safety. Healy overall is a joke as Mayor.

Capnjon, I'm looking at fliers that were in my mailbox from Healy, they all say crime is done, he consistently says it

Commander, I too can handle myself and thankfully well due to much martial arts, boxing and weightlifting, in fact, I'd love nothing more than taking down a criminal, a few years back two criminal with a knife tried wanted a real nice coat I was wearing, I lunged at the one holding the knife, then grabbing his partner shoving him them into each other a busting one of them in the head, they both took off....What do we do about our senior citizens and people that can handle themselves, the crime situation is not good for the.
BTW, I never reported it, so as you point to stats, they are not correct because everything is not reported and/or always categorized correctly.

Commander, People don't feel safe and the Jersey City crime rate is higher than the national average. If you were to walk around Jersey City at this hour, especially in certain areas, your sure to get mugged...Come up to Heights, there are gangs, drug dealers roaming around Central Ave, Palisade Ave, Summit Ave, Baldwin Ave to name a few. In other areas, Greenville to name one you could get murdered. Crime is a major problem in JC.

I'd also like to mention Steve Fulop returns phone calls and emails. Steve does go to bat for people and works hard. Thanks for your help Steve.

If Healy worked as hard at being Mayor as he does to get elected he would probably be a very good Mayor. If only he put this type of effort in to crime and tax issues, Jersey City would become a great city. We could only ask that he do a good job, what a shame, after he was elected last time neglected the citizens of Jersey City and he wants to be re-elected, which he probably will as he seems to be buying the election.

Charon, so you want to put a cost on Public Safety..it should be the NUMBER 1 concern of the Mayor. Citizens need to be protected. If you want Jersey City to flourish and have revenue streams from businesses and visitors then safety must be provided. With all the goddamn abatement that Healy and his administration pockets the money from is a place to start on where to pay for more policing. Crime must be fought and fought at no expense. No expense should be spared when it comes to public safety.
