Don't be idiotic.... Klugman is yet another privileged individual who grew up in Nassau County, NY. He knows nothing of the working-class other than what he's read in books or seen in movies. He didn't go to a State college; he went to Princeton. He is a well-paid sh*t-stirrer.

"They eat donated food stored, prepared and distributed on site, are taken care of by professionals with on site meds, spend their nights under the stars in sleeping bags (the police won?t let them put up tents) and hold daily ?General Assembly? meetings to organize themselves and plan."

Sounds like Jim Jones at Jonestown before the massacre...pssst...do not drink the kool-aid.

Traditionally, college was for bright students who could afford to go. Somewhere along the line someone decided that college was the be-all and end all for EVERYONE. The high schools eliminated Home Economics and Shop and discouraged Vocational schools. Then, lots of new colleges were created. Guidance Counselors would say, "There is a college for everyone" Then college loans were pushed which enslaved a lot of people. When people would default on loans, banks had a very hard time getting their money back. So what do we have ...a lot of people who were "educated" at second rate schools, who can't cook or fix anything and are dependent on fast food restaurants and who are mad at Wall Street , not the bankers or the teacher's unions who dumbed-down the educational system? REALLY?!

So they are going to be protesting Goldman Sachs? What a great idea; but why stop there? Get rid of all the corporations. We don't need evil organizations like the Newport Mall, Home Depot, A&P, Shop-Rite, Bed Bath Beyond and BJ's in Jersey City. It's just a damn good thing Whole Foods stayed out of Jersey City or I would have spent all my time protesting in front of it.

Of course the politicians have the right to talk to the family. The politicians should also speak to the public about how they counseled the family about how decent people need to raise their kids. Hopefully they asked the family to co-operate with authorities and give up the names of the rest of the people in this guy's group because obviously he was protecting something so valuable that he needed a machine gun. They owe that to the other people in the community who live in fear because of the thugs with the weapons. Do you think they did? While it's terribly sad that someone f**ked up their own life by choosing the wrong path to go down, the politicians should be trying to reassure the public that they are not protecting the bad people. If someone chose to carry an automatic weapon, discharge it in the city, point it at a cop...that guy chose poorly. Very sad story.

"Corporal punishment for extreme cases of disregard for child safety"? You aren't suggesting a public flogging? I don't know what might get through to these low-life types, but I am damn sick of hearing about this sort of behaviour.

Singaporean law allows caning to be ordered for over 30 offences, including hostage-taking, robbery, gang robbery with murder, drug use, vandalism, and rioting. Caning is also a mandatory punishment for certain offences such as rape, drug trafficking, illegal money-lending, /and for visiting foreigners who overstay their visa by more than 90 days, a measure designed to deter illegal immigrant workers.

The "victim" is not a victim at all. He was the damn aggressor. His family only has the right to bury him at this point. How dare they cry foul when their family member threatened a cop who had been called to the scene. Maybe it will be a lesson to the rest of the family not to behave in such an anti-social way. Ridiculous people!

It's Greek To Me - OUT OF BUSINESS
Home away from home
Home away from home

The spot on Newark Ave is in a prime location and Greek cuisine is so popular so what is missing ?
The other IGTM franchises do well because the owners are usually on the scene; it's part of the formula for making these restaurants successful. Running a restaurant is very hard but in order for an excellent result one has to be there to make sure it runs well when you can't be there. This restaurant started out so well when the owner was present. When he left it in charge of others, the quality went down. I think it can be revived. I think Gordon Ramsey needs to be called to see what can be done?

Grove Point Building garbage pile
Home away from home
Home away from home

Is anyone else nauseated by the garbage situation at the Grove Point Building? There has to be a better way of handling the massive amount (1/2 block long) of stinking garbage piled out on the street the day before garbage pick-up. It sits out where the bags constantly get ripped open and scattered all over the block. Why isn't there a dumpster in their building and why can't the sanitation department pick it up from the dumpster. The smell is SO bad and it attracts vermin. Am I the only one bothered by this situation????

Everything I know about police investigations is what I observed on the show "Columbo". So the bottom line is that when someone refuses to cooperate...they are the guilty party otherwise they would do anything and everything to get to the bottom of the situation. The end.

I am sick of hearing and reading about these stupid punks who have to roam around in herds like animals and prey on single victims. There is no contest when it's a gang against one person. They don't know the concept of mano a mano. They are cowards.

Just because one person does something wrong and is getting away with it, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Any doctor who signs a form saying an able-bodied person is entitled to handicap parking is a doctor you can't trust.

An investigation by some concerned citizens or media outlet is in order to determine if these people are legitimately entitled to be there or if it's a scam. I saw a TV show about just this sort of thing where able-bodied individuals were in possession of handicap placards and totally scammed the system. It is not fair to all the people who have to pay and struggle to find parking.

@HamiltonParker - It sounds like lots of agencies have tried to help these people. The problem is that after awhile when they see that it's a circular issue they do not take self-destructive people seriously. It's a total waste of money to continue to help people who don't really want to be helped. Only when they break the cycle and ask for help will there be a happy ending. (IMHO)

It's outrageous crazy behavior. How sad that you have to explain this sh*t to your child. It's also sad that while some people want to make the city a better place by beautifying their homes, others with no pride of ownership think it's perfectly OK to take other people's possessions.
It should not be tolerated. Something has to be said and something has to be done. If they are allowed to continue they will continue to steal more.

I'm sorry that this sort of nonsense goes on anywhere. It's HORRIBLE! However, if you go out looking for serious trouble you have to expect that serious shit just might happen.

#1 The pig was smoking so it obviously doesn't care about it's own health.
#2 The pig has NO regard for his surroundings . He had the damn nerve to throw garbage out the window of his pigpen because he obviously doesn't own the building or the land it sits on. and he doesn't give a rat's arse what happens to himself or his neighbors. I watch creeps like this walking around JC throwing garbage around.
It takes a lot of effort to keep cities clean. It's a shame some people are always the problem and can never get behind a decent solution. PIGS

This explains a lot.
The other night I was being dropped off at the Grove St. Station around 10PM. I was amazed at the various drug deals going on in the streets and wondered where the police were. Now I guess I know; lining up as customers.
We need more cops or perhaps BETTER cops. I am really getting sick of the lawlessness on the streets.
