A few years ago, some jerk in my building, was smoking in bed, and fell asleep. Bedroom went up in flames, and the apts below were flooded out from the water hoses.

Luckily, nobody was hurt.

In this day and age, what the hell is wrong with people?

#1 The pig was smoking so it obviously doesn't care about it's own health.
#2 The pig has NO regard for his surroundings . He had the damn nerve to throw garbage out the window of his pigpen because he obviously doesn't own the building or the land it sits on. and he doesn't give a rat's arse what happens to himself or his neighbors. I watch creeps like this walking around JC throwing garbage around.
It takes a lot of effort to keep cities clean. It's a shame some people are always the problem and can never get behind a decent solution. PIGS

Flicked cigarette likely caused Jersey City fire, officials say

Some of the damage caused by a fire on Oakland Avenue in Jersey City.

A careless smoker tossing a cigarette out a window likely caused the small fire early this morning at an Oakland Avenue building in Jersey City, officials said.

When firefighters responded to the three-story building near Waverly Street on a 2:44 a.m. alarm they found a second-floor window frame on fire, Fire Director Armando Roman said.

Firefighters quickly doused the flames, and investigators later determined a resident of the building's third floor had flicked a cigarette out of his window and it had apparently landed on the windowsill a floor below and ignited it, Roman said.

There were no injuries, Roman said.

Firefighters left the scene at 3:41 a.m.
