"Corporal punishment for extreme cases of disregard for child safety"? You aren't suggesting a public flogging? I don't know what might get through to these low-life types, but I am damn sick of hearing about this sort of behaviour.

Singaporean law allows caning to be ordered for over 30 offences, including hostage-taking, robbery, gang robbery with murder, drug use, vandalism, and rioting. Caning is also a mandatory punishment for certain offences such as rape, drug trafficking, illegal money-lending, /and for visiting foreigners who overstay their visa by more than 90 days, a measure designed to deter illegal immigrant workers.

Unbelievable!!! A 52 year old man with a 23 year old woman driving piss drunk with two young kids in the back...stabs her in the face with a key, she dives out of the van and he crashes twice. Now what is society supposed to do with a-holes like this? Makes me think we need to institute corporal punishment for extreme cases of disregard for child safety.

Updated: Saturday, September 03, 2011, 10:24 AM
By The Jersey Journal

A 23-year-old woman told police that she was stabbed multiple times in the face with a key while her 52-year-old boyfriends allegedly drove drunk. Police reports also indicate the woman was "too intoxicated to comprehend her rights."

In today's Jersey Journal, a 52-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with stabbing his 23-year-old girlfriends multiple times in the face with a key while drunk driving in a van with their children in the bask seat, officials said.

Juan T. Irizarry, 52, of Webster Avenue, was arrested Downtown about 6 p.m. after police received a tip that a man assaulted a woman who was screaming for help in a van traveling on Baldwin Avenue toward Pavonia Avenue, reports said.

During the incident, the couple's 3-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter were in the back seat, reports said. The victim told police that the assault ended when she jumped out of the van, reports said.

52-Yr-Old Man Allegedly Stabbed 23-Yr-Old Girlfriend In The Face While Driving

A 52-year-old Jersey City man has been accused of stabbing his 23-year-old girlfriend and baby mama in the face with a key while driving. Juan T. Irizarry has been charged with aggravated assault and two weapons offenses, for allegedly stabbing the girlfriend while their kids were in the car yesterday afternoon.

The girlfriend told police that the family was driving in their van when she and Irizarry had an argument, which escalated until he began stabbing her in the face with the key. The couple's two children, a 3-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter, were in the backseat the whole time; the assault ended when the girlfriend jumped out of the van.
Police found the van soon after, with the children still inside "disheveled and very scared, crying and also soaked with water or sweat." Police believe that Irizarry was involved in two collisions after the girlfriend jumped out of the car, and when they got to him, he appeared to be very intoxicated, and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. The girlfriend was "unable to complete or seek a restraining order," because she was "too intoxicated to comprehend her rights," and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. The kids were also taken their for evaluation, and a representative of the state Division of Youth and Family Services responded to the hospital.
