Re: Unleashed Pit Bull attacks jogger in Lincoln Park -- Owner leaves woman bleeding
Home away from home
Home away from home

Ok genius, educate me. Show me where in the article it says anything about how this relates to Pitbull attacks at all. I am all ears.

I swear, between you and Biscuit, its a regular Mensa meeting in here. Biscuit failed to realize the analogy I was making, so let me dumb it down a shade. 3 people die a year from pitbull attacks, the same amount die from falling into glass furniture. Should we then ban glass furniture because a few people are scared of them?

You are missing the point. I am not saying to be scared of glass tables, I am saying that a fear of pitbulls is as irrational as a fear of glass furniture. No one is implying a glass table will attack you if provoked. But the odds of death are the same. Now it would be silly to be afraid of glass tables, no? You get the point?

AGAIN, show me in the article you linked to how this relates to pitbull attacks. Please.

Biscut,

You really can't read can you? If you had actually read the article you linked to, you would have known a few things. They didn't release the reason for the transplant.

From the article you linked to:

The nature of the injuries or disfigurement that prompted the Cleveland case are not yet known.

And the woman in France who you thought you were talking about, had her face mauled when she was attacked by her own Labrador.

Keep up the good work!

Thats right, ignore my last post entirely.

Are you going to cross the street when you see an evil glass coffee table on the curb? Should we ban them?

Hey Just for Phun,

Each year an estimated 20,000 people, most of them children, are treated in emergency rooms for injuries sustained from glass furniture. In an average year, three children die.

Lets ban glass coffee tables!

Riiiight...

Seriously, if you have the stats, prove it. Find all the stats about all the pitbull attacks in the world and show them to me.

See this is how you do it:

Fact: Out of the estimated 53 million dogs in the United States 92 fatal attacks are contributed to Pit Bulls or Pit Bull Mixes from 1965-2001. (Thats 37 years so almost 3 a year! WOW!)

Source: Fatal Dog Attacks by Karen Delise

Imagine that. 53 million dogs. 92 fatal attacks out of 431 that span a 37 year period (1965-2001). Now I ask you, after looking at the numbers do we have a dangerous dog problem?

Fatal dog attacks by dangerous dogs are almost non-existent. 20 a year out of millions of dogs. The percentages are estimated to be somewhere around .0000004% of dog attacks are fatal.

Approximately 20 people die every year as a result of a dog attack in the United States compare that with the 62 people a year that die from lightning related deaths. But no, you KNOW more people, so that stat is false somehow.

oh no wait, you are just scared of being bit. Lets find those stats shall we?

An American has a one in 50 chance of being bitten by a dog each year.

Thats just a regular dog. Of those, dogs not known to the victim account for approximately 10-20% of all reported dog bites.

Now you see, your odds are dwindling.

Also, here is a study on temperament:

http://www.atts.org/stats1.html

Look up American Pitbull Terrier.

My point is, before you open your mouth and prove you don't know what you are talking about, do some research. Not the kind where you ask your friends if they have been bit, even a google. Find some stats and prove me wrong. seriously, prove me wrong. Until then, man up and grow a pair.

Your last post says more about you than I can possibly say. Congrats, you have pwned yourself. Learn some reading comprehension skills and then we can talk intelligently. Until then, feel free to run a hide from the big bad doggies.

And btw, if I am choosing between a 40lb. dog and big fat ass cow, I'm choosing dog.

The odds of being attacked and killed by a Pit Bull are in your favor -approximately 1 in 145,000,000. That?s million folks. In contrast, you are 4 times more likely to be killed by a cow in the USA than any breed of dog, much less a Pit Bull.

Thats why I mock you. It would be like me staying indoors every time it rained in fear of being hit by lightning. Its an irrational fear.

Ok rrraakkkk,

A few things you completely got wrong. The person who started the thread was not an idiot, she was genuinely concerned, had heard the rumor and was trying to verify if it was true or not. Yes, there were idiots in the thread that perpetuated the rumor, but the thread was started with legitimate concerns. Do yourself a favor, and know the whole story before you hurl insults.

And that "poor guy" who got arrested was no innocent bystander who got caught up in the lie. He was busy spreading false rumors himself. Did you even read the original thread, this thread, the jersey journal article or the snopes link? Its a rhetorical question, I know the answer is no.

HA! The thought of a grown man crossing the street to avoid a dog is too funny. It seems if JC is such a scary place that some of you feel the need to want to pack heat, maybe you just aren't cut out for urban living.

The fact is, one or two ignorant people are not going to get a whole breed banned just because they get scared.

The behavior of any dog depends on its owner. All of you who are saying its just the breed that is responsible, you are the walking talking definition of ignorant. If you think I am insulting you, you clearly do not know the definition of the word. You are generalizing because pitbull attacks get more news then any other breed. So saying its the dog's fault is like blaming glocks for killing people instead of the idiots who are pulling the trigger. Bad owners are the problem here. Most pitbulls are loving, caring dogs.

There is a lesson to be learned for all you would-be-bankrobbers out there. If you are going to try and rob a bank, and fail, at least go home and change your clothes. You could also do yourself a favor and get rid of the note. You know, just in cases.

I don't care what anyone else says, you did the right thing. These kids need to learn there are consequences to their actions. I wish this city had 50 more like you.

I say, pursue it. If it was just kids being kids thats one thing, but they weren't using tp or shaving cream, they were using rocks.

Thank you for caring.

Jillian,

Please don't self ban yourself. There is a lack of actual discourse on this site and you help elevate the site. I think Grove was simply taken out of context and did not mean to imply you were one of the bad posters. This whole situation stinks thanks to some idiot 19-year-old. It ends there.

Anyhoo, good to see the police are actually doing something. I never bought it, but some did, and were legitimately scared. Is Tom banned?

The people who litter have no interest in putting their trash in the can where it belongs. I have seen many an idiot litter RIGHT NEXT TO a garbage can.

If you are the little mustached kid or one of his fat little girlfriends i gave a lecture to for littering your McDonalds 1 foot away from a garbage can you know what I am talking about.

Woman in distress last night on 2nd Street.
Home away from home
Home away from home

Anyone see this woman get arrested last night? She came out of a bar on 2nd street screaming "Get it out!" over and over again. At first, I thought something was in her hair, but she kept screaming and eventually took off her top. So standing there in here bra, she kept screaming as people tried to help her. I am guessing she was either on some sort of drug or crazy.

By the time the cops showed up, she was fully topless and freaked out when they took her away. It took 5 cops to subdue her. Anyone have any idea what happened after that?

You missed the point. (which I am sure happens to you a lot) Not one person complained about those panthers intimidating them. NOT ONE. Fox made this non-issue into an issue.

Re: Participate in the campaign to get better PATH service - fixmypath.com

I agree. The fix my path website ignored my "no" about Newport as well. I couldn't care less about a second entryway at Newport. What riles me up is the Hoboken stop on the weekends. It didn't always used to be like this. The Hoboken stop from 33rd was made because of some "signal work" that ALWAYS seems to be going on. Just make it direct and the WTC thing is solved. I know it sucks having to take extra trains to get home, but if it were quicker, more people wouldn't mind.

The PA doesn't care. If they did, they would address these issues instead of dancing around them with BS answers.

UPS claimed they left a notice for me yesterday and of course was nothing was there. Now I cant get my package rerouted until tomorrow because of their lazy ass delievery man. I am guessing due to the rain, he didn't even bother making his route yesterday. WHy bother when its raining? I reported his sorry ass, but nothing will come of it.

Re: Participate in the campaign to get better PATH service - fixmypath.com

Yeah. I emailed the PATh service complaining about the service being shut down for three years between WTC and JC on the weekends. They wrote me back a response that had nothing to do with what I was asking. So you could waste your time trying to get a valid response, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

Here is my letter:

Is it true that weekend service will be suspended from the WTC station starting in 2009? If so, is there any talk about making the 33rd Street train NOT go through Hoboken all weekend long? I for one will go out of my way to go the WTC train for speedy service home on the weekends and it would be very inconvenient for all Jersey City residents to have to go through Hoboken in order to get home.

And here is the response:

Thank you for your feedback. There are no current plans to close the WTC station in 2009. However please be aware that there is major construction in the area and temporary closures may occur depending on the type of work that is being completed.
Sincerely,
PATH Customer Service
