@nyrgravey9 and others - if you don't see the irony of calling people racist, then get upset when the same accusation is leveled at you, then tough. The protest was about demanding better police transparency and accountability. You and others wanted to deflect that to other issues such as "black on black violence" and personal attacks on the march leaders. Do we need to prioritize every issue by body-count? Then tackle them one-by-one? If so, we'd be working on poverty and healthcare - and nothing else.

That doesn't address a single point from my comments. I directly addressed your ignorance. I didn't deflect. Again, the point isn't that the underlying of this protest is bad, but it refers back to mole analogy. And you have to question why Al Sharpton is even there. If you think Al Sharpton's presence has anything at all to do with police violence against black people, well, I got a bridge to sell you.

This comment above from you, however, is by all definitions, a deflection.

Now, the rest of your post actually borderlines on constructive, and that's great. You're starting to ask the right questions.

DTJC I'll speak slowly so that even your preschool brain might have the chance to understand what the adults here are saying.

No one here is against the message of the March. I personally think any kind of police protest should be against the militarization of the police. That affects us all. But that's for another thread.

That said, no one here is being racist. Stop using that as your catch phrase response to anything anyone says that opposes your infantile views. It's a tired response that only proves to highlight your own ignorance and inability to respond with cogent counterpoints. IN fact it's racist for you and Sharpton and others to just sit there and blame whitey for the problems of the black community. That's what the underlying tone of these marches say. And t furthers the divide between everyone.

The arguments laid out below perfectly demonstrate why this March is a farce. The mole analogy is perfect. Only the patients family (Sharpton, Jackson) is screaming and yelling at the doctor (politicians) to get that mole out, meanwhile a massive metastasized cancer (gangs) is eating up the patients entire body. But drawing attention to that makes you racist against cancer (try to follow along).

The facts don't lie. Police beating/killings are such a tiny component of overall crime committed on black people, it's laughable that this much effort goes into protesting while the REAL causes are brushed off as "scared white people criticism". And you wonder why people don't take any of this shit seriously? Again, no one is saying it shouldn't be addressed. But it's not a black issue. Black people don't own this issue. Police brutality as a stand alone issue is rising system wide, again in my opinion, with the rise of the militarization of the police.

So, given that the stats show that black people are killing black people at the highest rate, and I want to draw attention it to stop it, so that black youths have a chance to survivenamd thrive, I'm a racist?? Really? That's your best rebuttal?

Wow, if that's really your contention, then you and people with the same twisted world view as you are actually the biggest part of the problem. Thank god people with sense in all communities reject Sharpton and work at the individual level to bridge that gap while people like you live to keep widening it.

Unfortunately I just wasted 5 minutes of my day pissing into the wind because your response back is still going to be some 5th grade bullshit.

DTJC, I didn't delete it. It got deleted.

No one is arguing protesting police brutality is bad. And I don't agree with most of what Monroe says.

The overriding point is that police killing of black youths is singnificantly outpaced by killings by other black youths. That's a statistical fact. That said, Sharptons resources would be better spent focusing on the real issue as I just mentioned.

And morons who reply to that with "agh, scared old white guys" are too stupid to realize their ignorance helps to keep that fact alive.

WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT YOUR PROBLEM. We're too boring and uninteresting for that. We're too busy buying khakis and antiquing and that all dumb shit.

If you're going to protest in the interest of the black community, protest the gangs, and the lack of parenting. Otherwise you're just wasting your time.

Considering Eric Holder was very racist himself, it would be appalling but not surprising for some to say this.

He was one of the worst Attorney Generals of all time so his resignation is great news for the country. Too bad it isn't effective immediately.

That is 100% false. I am on the HPHA and they did not give their consent whatsoever. I will defer to the actual board members (I'm a voting member, but not a board member) on the meetings that took place discussing this development. The long and short of it is that they don't have any legitimate power to stop the city's development office from approving it. That is, unless someone organized ALL of the residents of those streets to petition against it and present it to city hall.

As a result, they're negotiating concessions from the builders to benefit the community (money for the new parks to be built, XYZ number of retail spaces of a certain type, etc.).

Again, I can't speak to all of the specifics, but HPHA did not bless this one. Whomever told you that is ill informed.

That's not what I am saying at all (and I only speak for me). Anyone guilty of this stuff should be put away. What I am saying is, throughout every single step of the process of investigating Christie, there has been around the clock non-stop coverage. Every insignificant "development" gets front page news, and not just locally.

With IRS-gate, a situation where there is, indeed, smoke, and lots of it, it's rarely if every front page news. If you don't go to drudgereport once in a while, you'd hardly even know it was a thing. Now, take this example and extrapolate it out to broad media coverage of every other scandal plaguing the white house, and you can't sit there with a straight face and tell me you don't see an overwhelming bias on how a democrat administration is covered over a Republican one. If you do, you're really just discrediting yourself.

I don't believe christie, but there should be a statute of limitations on how long this goes on for.

Everyone knows that the "investigative committee" is extremely partisan. Further, millions of taxpayer money has been spent because of them. Do you really think they'll ever admit they've gone too far?

The federal prosecutors are doing a REAL investigation, and they are nonpartisan. And guess what, they haven't been able to find anything.

If, in the end, they don't nab Christie but have been able to flush out several high ranking corrupt officials (as has been done due to the investigation and not remotely at all due to Christie having a moral compass) are you going to claim that the investigation should have never happened? What makes it a waste of money? Is it just that you don't like that it's gone on longer or that it was even investigated at all?

I'm sorry, but when there is corruption and abuse of power in this magnitude, you investigate. I have zero problems investigating the IRS claims. If people are fired as a result of corruption, I consider it a win for all.

Whats great about this is that not one shred of any kind of evidence was found linking Christie to this non-story.

Yet, the same knuckleheads on here calling for Christie's resignation because "they just know it HAS to be true" won't even acknowledge when their guys are under the microscope in the face of mounting evidence (IRS-gate especially).

It's laughable. In instances like the IRS scandal, you have trashed hard drives, lost emails, etc etc and yet the libs on here defend it to the death.

Laughable!

While this is true, I believe it's a specific distance from any restaurant (can't find the statute and I'm not at a PC). Maybe they can line up straight down the middle of Newark Ave? That would be awesome! Competition, baby!

Every resident agreed the rollout process and the height were disasterously done/handled. However, when the city reps siad they planned to shave/lower the hump and finally properly mark it tomorrow, a few very loud people balked at this and insisted on its immediate removal to be followed by a traffic study. The Councilmen waffled, first saying let's shave/mark it and see how that works for a few weeks, then decide. Then after these few yelled some more, they back-peddled and decided to removie it entirely tomorrow. WITHOUT ANY COST/FINANCIAL DATA to inform the decision.

What a sh$tshow.

I avoid the 6th Borough Market, not the actual vendors. I try to spend money locally as much as possible. But, F the market organizers. They're a bunch of Brooklyners too ashamed to embrace their new NJ living, so they tie it into NYC. Yes, I know a bunch of you out there don't care and think this is silly, and you're entitled to that opinion just as much as I am.

But, I know JC natives who take a step further and boycott vendors who sell at the 6B market, which is kind of silly. To each their own.

Change the name of the market. Have some respect for the locals/natives.

FYI, these are speed Humps, not bumps. It's not just semantics either. They're different than speed bumps, and are designed to be as large as you're seeing.
