Actually I heard it was going to be an artisanal haberdasher and purveyor of fine pocket watches that serves craft beer while you wait for your fixed-gear bike to be repaired.

LMAO maybe these places are packed because idiots like you have no where else to go.. when I first moved to JC Hard Grove was packed every night which didn't make it a nice spot, it was all that was offered in the early 90's. The Jamaican spot in Bergen Lafayette is packed every night which still does not make it a great spot, ( its pretty good) but not great but again its the only spot on that side of BL.

Exactly. I hate "foodies" anyway. Gives me douche-chills.

"Hate" is harsh Vigilante, C'mon man. Foodies aren't douches. Just people who love to patronize local businesses that offer up good eats. Where's this coming from?

"Foodie" has to be one of the most pretentious words ever. The people who describe themselves as such are insufferable.

To add to this, the JSQ train is packed by the time it gets to Christopher Street at night (even after 8pm) while Hoboken trains are almost empty. Can they extend the JSQ rush hour schedule in the evenings?

At the risk of sounding insensitive, it is the first impression you get when driving into jersey city. I just had my whole family visit me this past weekend and it really doesn't make jersey city look that good when you have homeless people begging for money the moment you enter our city.
Can't anything be done about this? I know there's other concerns that are most likely more important (insert off-leash dog joke here), however it is an issue that I would like to hear other's thoughts on in this forum. Again, I can't imagine how hard things are on the low income/homeless - but it really doesn't give our home a good image. Maybe there is something the Fulop administration could do to get rid of this and benefit these struggling citizens at the same time. I've tried searching online about this topic but came up empty. Hence, here I am...thoughts?... Thanks in advance

"OMG! I just moved into a newly gentrified area and OMG there are OMG poor people here! My parents won't OMG approve!"

Stop pretending you care about the people who are begging. You are all about appearances.

So if you could affordably clone your pet so they can start life over again, would you?

No. It's just a physical replication of your pet. Personality and temperament aren't guaranteed.

My cat died in February. I brought him to Westside Animal Hospital. I had a choice of having him communally cremated and having his ashes spread on the grounds of the pet cemetery in PA or I could pay extra (~$150) and have his remains separately cremated and returned to me in a box with a nameplate. I did the latter.

Now, whether the ashes in the box are all Otis is something I can't be 100% certain of. I'd like to believe they are.

For the love of all that is holy, could they PLEASE extend the rush hour schedule for the JSQ train in the evenings?! I can't believe how hard it can get to cram on to a JSQ train from Christopher Street at 8pm.

Meanwhile the trains to Hoboken have plenty of room. (Yes, I know Hoboken connects with NJ Transit.)

It's a money-grab people. The city acts like developers are doing them a favor. Developers clean up and leave the residents to clean up the mess. Jersey City will look like Flushing soon. I am out of here soon after 25 years. Hopefully it's not too late for this city to "get it right". Sadly though it's heading toward more NYC sprawl.

I agree. The people who are "pro-density" are those that bought in the last 10 years. I've been here for 23 years. I'll give myself another 5.

If you like density so much, why not move to Union City or Guttenberg? Let's turn DTJC into another Kowloon Walled City!

The officer made sure I was ok before turning back to the driver and reaming her out a little more and then letting her go.

I spoke with the officer afterwards, thanking him. And just mentioning how bad the intersection is. And he brought up several others that are just as bad. He even told me that on his commute to work in his civilian car he has people run stop signs all the time in front of him, but when he's in his patrol car, nothing.

I asked him if they could set up cars sitting at some of these intersections, and he told me he'd love to, but its Jersey City and there are so many more pressing things that they are doing.

Anyway, I thanked him for helping and left happy that the driver at least got yelled at by a cop. Maybe she'll think twice next time.

I am glad that you are ok but I don't understand why she wasn't ticketed. She blew through a stop sign and a JC police yelled at her but didn't give her a ticket? Why not? Incidents like this will continue to happen if the JCPD doesn't hand out fines.

Re: Old pervert in Hamilton Park

I think I ran into this guy on Saturday on Jersey Ave. Frail looking old man with lots of pens in his pockets.

I saw him outside the baptist church on 4th and Jersey. He looked confused and lost. He spoke broken English so I spoke Russian to him to see if he was alright. His face lit up like a Christmas tree.

He tells me he is from Belarus and he thought Americans were snobby. I told him I'm American but my parents were Russian and Ukrainian. Then he goes off on how his first love was from Kiev... I dunno. My Russian isn't what it used to be but he talked about a million things in our 2-minute encounter. He kept saying "love" in Russian and then tried to hug me. I put a big "nyet" to that and walked away.

Yeah, it was creepy but he seems like a harmless but very lonely old man.

I have a friend who grew up and still lives in Brooklyn. She has the biggest attitude toward NJ. She always refers to it as "Jersey" and the way she says it just drips with snobbishness.

We were talking about Maxwell's closing and she said, "I've only been a few times. It's Jersey, after all."

God, I hate that attitude. Just STFU.
