Teacher: I think you meant to type Middle-Easterner and NOT mid-Easterns. You are a teacher hu? And folks like to blame the kids for the fact that they aren't learning anything. So where exactly do you teach?

Crime victim agency gets $41G in funds

Friday, April 03, 2009

A Hudson County agency that assists crime victims has received $41,000 in federal funds, the state Attorney General's Office announced.

Forty-nine programs across the state will receive a total $2.1 million through the Office of Victim Witness Advocacy in the Division of Criminal Justice.

The grants are funded through the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). The VOCA victim assistance grant program supports nonprofit organizations and certain public agencies that provide direct services to victims of crime.

In Hudson County, the nonprofit International Institute of New Jersey, based in Jersey City, was awarded $41,023. The agency provides services to victims who are recent immigrants and unfamiliar with the legal system, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.
