Is there any money for landscaping? I get that back in the day shrubbery provided a place for muggers to hide, but surely we can do better now? It's a great park, but damn barren.

It would have to be a community movement, a la Van Vorst.

I don't think that's true. HP had much non-community landscaping as part of it's reno. There was a deliberate choice to put in things that didn't require the kind of constant community maintenance that the VV gardens do.

It would have to be a community movement, a la Van Vorst. There's an amazing community garden on the south side that is fenced in and very well kept.

Riverview Fisk would really benefit from a central plaza -- one bigger than what's there even. Think Hamilton Park. This would keep the farmers market vendors off the grass and keep the place lookin' a bit more green.

You are entitled to your own opinion. Many would argue that Sandy relief funds should first go to putting people back in their homes and reconnecting other people via mass transit to their jobs. You should have voiced your concern about the pavilion immediately after the storm! You would have likely been a lone voice -- no one was thinking about that pavilion when thousands were homeless and major modes of transportation like the PATH were crippled.

You should also brush up on how budgets at the city and state level work. The new pavilion and beautification at Riverview Fisk is coming in at a $480,000 price tag. Do you really think money like that is just lying around for immediate action?

The only thing more absurd than the two and a half years to fix the pavilion is your mindset that things like this should be fixed when you snap your fingers.

Yeah, I feel like this park is at half it's potential. I mean, you can't beat that million dollar view, but the pavilion is just sad looking, and the park overall looks rather sparse. Needs more trees, foliage, etc.? Also, other than Mod Cup, it needs more good-looking shops on Palisades instead of hodge-podgy nice homes mixed with dated, vinyl siding houses. The Heights can't transform quick enough.

Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place it here beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get the two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

This was at the bottom of your post. It should have been at the top, before you got so upset over the (supposed) no progress.

Fulop allocated a lot of money in 2015 to fix up neighborhood parks. He released this info roughly two months ago. Riverview Fisk is slated to receive a new pavilion that will also be ADA compliant.

Are you serious?
2 1/2 years constitutes no progress.
This should've been fixed immediately. This is an eyesore in our most iconic park and it's progress as far as it being fixed has been a disgrace.

It appears the "give the mayor no problems" neighborhood of the Heights continues down the ignored path in the progress of Jersey City.

Let's review quickly:
5 high rise cranes downtown

New developments in Greenville:
"This week we hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today with local developer John Fiorito, Ward F Councilwoman Diane Coleman, Councilwoman-at-large Joyce Watterman, and community advocate June Jones at the site of what will soon be a brand new 83 unit residential apartment complex."

Entire new neighborhoods being formed where there weren't neighborhoods before: SoHo West

And here it is 2 1/2 years since Hurricane Sandy and we still cannot get one godam Pavillion built?

This is our main icon (on websites and letterheads) in our most visually appealing park, yet it sits graffiti covered and destroyed nearly a 1000 days after the storm.
This is so unacceptable.

Personally sent letters to Michael Yun and city hall..nothing.
Why is this so difficult to sort??

Little hint to Mr. Mayor.
It's ok to show face up here every once in a while.

Anybody have any info on the Pavillion?
