Yes, in theory. Reality is that PS 16 runs at its capacity. Today there are classes of 32-35 pupils per teacher. They might have to create overflow classes in other schools to keep up with demand.

sorry to clarify - starting from kindergarten until 5th grade (highest grade in this school from my understanding), you are guaranteed a spot if you live within the zone. only pre-k, it is lotto based? thanks

As long as you are in the zone your kid is guaranteed (as of now) a kindergarten spot. The pre-K4 is by lotto and only 30 seats available. Kids that don't make the lotto get bused to near by PS preK for a year and back to PS16 in kindergarten.

Hi guys, i have a question regarding this school located in paulus hook - Cornelia F. Bradford No. 16.
Does anyone know if this is a true public school? meaning as long as you live within the zone they have to accept you and it is free? Sorry for the newbie question, we were thinking about moving to the suburbs due to planning to have kid soon and school is a big concern. But we prefer stay in downtown if can get into this school. http://www.greatschools.org/school-di ... l=e&schoolId=902&state=NJ Thanks
